What do you think?

Amoung a good number of "security software" purchases (some online), I bought some "Rogues" in the mix. Of course, I did not know they were bum at the time (naive). You know it is funny, "Registry Smart", "Spyware Detector" & "Max Secure Registry Cleaner" nearly ALWAYS come up as "malicious" on the many scanners. The funny thing is these are the 3 programs a have been using for the majority of the time over the past 1-1/2 years. My computer has been running nicely the whole time. They do not use much memory or slow down the machine. What is the downside when using this bad stuff? :clown:

ps..I just read a Microsoft bulletin on this site stating "Registry cleaners not recommended"

You might get the general idea when they say rogue softwares are made to leech off your identity, your money, and install adware. Some rogues are not as notorious and malicious as others. The ones you unknowingly (about their general nature) installed might be in the 'minor' league. But that is a guess.

They do not use much memory or slow down the machine.
But that could be from your observations. Their behavior would vary on other machines (deliver adware).

My computer has been running nicely the whole time.
Sneaky stuff going on in the background from plain site :clown:.

Hello carlcampbell,

See this page for the definition of "Rogue" in the security community. http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

You call it "bad stuff" so why have it on your machine? There are trustworthy software programs to choose from.

The three programs you mentioned.

Registry Smart.

Spyware Detector.

Max Secure Registry Cleaner.

Not only that, check that sites offering downloads have a good reputation, or not. For example.

OK thanks guys,

You are cool. I deserved a good slapping here for running garbage on my machine. It is no wonder that there have been "phantom"processes that interfere with some normal computrer operations from time to time. By the way what is up with the minature blank window labeled "Unknown Zone". It comes up for a moment when I try to download something from microsoft. It looks like just like something from that shitty "aboutblank":clown:
