Need assist for Win32.Delf.uv and Hupigon13

Help - I have picked up a trojan of some sort and am befuddled as to how to remove it.
Running Windows XP on a Dell Precision M65 laptop.
Corporate AntiVirus has been disabled by virus, will not run manually.

Spybot SD indicates I have Win32.Delf.uv and Hupigon13.
When I delete them using Spybot, they reappear following Reboot.
It seems to have modified my registry adding Debugger commands for Virus Detection instances.
When I go into Safe Mode, I am not able to log in (perhaps because I am not the Administrator?) but can log in in Normal Mode.

The original indication I got from Symantec, before it quit, was hacktool.rootkit.
In the Task Manager, there was an unusual task named jmortimer.exe,
where jmortimer is my Windows logon ID.
Does not appear any more, however, since running Spybot.

I ran RootAlyzer, but no detections were found.
It also seems to try to send out spam emails when connected to the company network.
I have also run HijackThis, but didn't see anything overly suspicious (to me...)

Please tell me what my next steps should be.

Is this a personal computer?

Technically, no.
I work for a small company and the admin basically distributes the PC with
networking and Symantec AV installed and everyone is pretty much on their own
after that, as we all work on differing projects.
Obviously, Symantec didn't do what it was supposed to and now I am this mess.
(I may be partially to blame :sick:)

Anyhow, the common sense thing to do is reformat and start over, but I have a
lot of programming and specialized work apps that have taken a good deal of time to configure and if it can be repaired, I would prefer to go that route.

OK, thank you, I can understand that.
For future reference, do you have any comments on "GoBack" as a means of thwarting malware?
It seems like a good product, but I have no personal experience with that subject.
