I just looked in the HOSTS/driver file in my Vista and there are 100s of entries in there and they all pertain to Spybot. Many, many are URLs of 'crazy' sites, such as: groundsilvercasino.net, etc.

What are all of these (127.0.0.1) entires? Why are they there?

This has me quite concerned and anxious that my brand new Vista might be infected with all these entries, etc.

Hello,

Nothing to worry.
By the immunization of Spybot - Search & Destroy the baddies are blocked.
That means that the sites where the baddies come from are added to the restricted zones in order to block them.
So if you block this action with your other security software the immunization of Spybot - Search & Destroy won't work - and the bad sites won't be blocked.

Best regards

I am sorry, but I do not understand (I am new at this). Why would all these (100s) of entries be in the "Windows / Hosts / Drivers etc" folder?
Why are they referred to as Spybot entries? Why are there so many URLs of 'unknown' sites, as I said similar to "Casinos," etc.

I am really concerned about these entries being in the "Windows/Hosts/Drivers/etc" folder.

Thank you
Alice

As Sandra stated, the entries are used by SpyBot Search & Destroy to block access to those bad sites. For more information, check out the sites below.
