Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You must have read and followed the "Before you Post" instructions.

I am not seeing malware (does not mean something could not be hidden) and will help you take a look. I first need to say that a problem with updating McAfee is a McAfee issue and should be addressed here:

I am seeing no evidence of McAfee running on this computer?

1) Please DO NOT ENABLE Spybot S&D TeaTimer while we work together.

2) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

3) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Please understand I can not do this for you. If you are going to accept the fact that you can not do anything, then there is no way I can help.
This is likely not going to be fast or easy. If you can not download to this computer, is there another computer you can download to so you can bring tools to use to the infected computer?

Keep in mind one option is to reformat the computer.

I have a desktop and a laptop but they both have the same problem. Is there any work around? I have already reformatted both machines twice and i have the same problems

The work around is to bring tools to an infected computer. If the problem is malware and you reformatted the computers, that would remove the malware. If they both have the same problem and they both were reformatted, then the problem is not malware.

Are you able top go online with either of the computers? What error messages are receiving when you try to update or download? Do you get the same error message with either computer?

Is there a router involved?

when i try to go to the malwarebytes website the message is internet explorer cannot display webage on both machines. Yes there is a router connected.

I should have said that if the computers were reformatted, they would be clean unless the infection was reinstalled after the formet.

I need error messages word for word, exactly as Windows presents them to you with correct spelling, if you want me to research them.

If you are receiving the same message from both machines, it is likely the router that is the problem, see this:

Have you contacted your Internet Service Provider for help? Their technical people can tell you if the router is the problem.

My suggestion would be to involve those technicians before you start troubleshooting, especially since two computer are having access issues.

Ok I will contact my ISP. If my problem is with the router will simply changing it solve the problem?

Resetting the router as suggested by Microsoft in the link I posted may fix the problem. I suggested you contact the ISP technicians before resetting it, that might make it not work with the ISP's setting. If the router is NOT infected, you may fix the issue by unplugging the router and then powering down the PC. Wait a good minute then plug the router in and wait until it is completely powered, then start the computer and see if your browser can access websites.

OK, thanks for the feedback. Since your router problem was probably caused by malware and it is very possible the junk is still on the computer, please return to my first post (#2) and follow those directions.
