Also, is there any sort of way I can prevent getting more trojans on this computer? (ie: any programs you can recommend). Thank you very much for your time.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance) http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You must have read and followed the "Before you Post" instructions.

Also, is there any sort of way I can prevent getting more trojans on this computer?
If I had the answers to that, I would be very rich. There are no silver bullets, I will post advice from experts. Running the suggested programs is only part, good common sense and online surfing habits have much to do with it as do keeping all programs up to date when applicable.

If you still want help we will start like this:

1) Please DO NOT ENABLE Spybot S&D TeaTimer while we work together.

2) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

http://www.besttechie.net/mbam/mbam-setup.exe <<< download

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
*Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Tutorial if needed:
http://www.techsupportteam.org/forum/tutorials/2282-malwarebytes-anti-malware-mbam.html

3) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Thanks again--

and here's your silver bullet for stopping viruses:
1. go to home depot or your neighborhood renovation supplies store.
2. buy a shovel, hammer and electromagnet.
3. drive home.
4. dig a 4x8 hole in your backyard
5. take the computer outside and beat it with a hammer
6. drag an electromagnet across all the electronics.
7. if you don't feel satisfied yet, repeat step 5 and perhaps step 6.
8. toss electronics in hole.
9. cover with dirt, and if you wish, some begonias or daisies.

MBAM was not updated before it was run? todays database is:
Database version 2238 6/6/2009. You ran Database version: 2182.

Open MBAM > Click the Update tab > click Check for Updates > allow MBAM to download and install the newest version.
click the > Perform Full Scan and post the results.

Uninstall list: I look for malware and security issues and will not know all of your programs, but you should.
Hackers are using out of date programs to infect folks more and more,
Here is a small free tool that lets you know when something needs an update if you are interested:

Perhaps the updated MBAM program will pick up on something? I should say if you are going to apply your"Silver Bullet Method" skip the above instructions as they won't be needed:laugh:

I got rid of the old Java runtime platforms and updated Adobe Acrobat. My computer doesn't want to allow MalwareBytes or Secunia to access the internet. I'm thinking the problem may be with my antivirus because it is very aggressive at blocking programs (it blocked ComboFix and told me it was a "suspicious application").

So I may get rid of the antivirus and try another one, probably AVG Free. The program you recommended was so good that I installed it on my computer and my sister's computer.

While I have never used it, Sophos has a good reputation, have you thought about asking tech support why it is blocking valid programs and how to stop that? http://www.sophos.com/support/queries/

I personally use AVG free 8.5 and it works fine for me. I don't suggest subscription services, prefering not to get involved, but AVG rates high even when compared to those you pay for.

Here is a link to the freeware programs I can provide:

I also personally run MBAM, Secunia PSI and on occaision combofix to try it out and I can assure you those are some much used malware programs.

Thanks
