View Full Version : Virus problems and don't know where they are
I think I have a virus or a rogue program somewhere. I have booted up in safe mode and renamed the malwarebytes exe file so that I can run it. I updated it and it found some stuff so I got rid of it and now it says my computer is clean. Unfortunately, mbam.exe still does not work and neither does spybot becaue the spybotSD.exe file has disappeared or is hidden somewhere. The really weird thing is I tried to run HiJackThis 2.0.2 in prep for posting this but it will not run either. An older version will run but not the newer version. Please help I have to get this off my computer it is driving me crazy.

I got a couple more programs to run including AVG. They all found something and were able to get rid of it but I still cannot run MalwareBytes or Spybot from their exe files. Again if I rename mbam.exe it works but there is not spybotSD.exe file. Also, I cannot get HiJackThis to run or SuperSpyware to even install.
Please help.

Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.
You must have read and followed the "Before you Post" instructions.
Posting additional comments or logs before a volunteer responds, can push you back instead of forward, because your thread ends up with a newer date. Also, helpers may think you are already being assisted because of the post count.
Try this self-installer and before you save the file change the name of the .exe to Morrac.exe and see if you can post an up to date HJT log. Make sure you disable TeaTimer as directed in the instructions.
Download Trend Micro Hijack This™ to your Desktop
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/hijackthis/HJTInstall.exe
Doubleclick the HJTInstall.exe to start it.
By default it will install HijackThis in the Program Files\Trendmicro folder and create a desktop shortcut.
HijackThis will open after install. Press the Scan button below.
This will start the scan and open a log.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
Tell me as much as you know about this infection.
