View Full Version : some lag problems during gaming.

Well recently i tried playing SC again. Only now whenever i get to a game i disconnect or lag. Which is strange 'cause it's the same computer and internet connect i've always had. As far as i can tell i have no firewall on. So, there must be a program somewhere that is slowing down my connection. AND I'm long overdue for a cleanup.

Here is my hijack this log (I apologise if this isn't the latest version. And I would like to extend my gratitude in advance for any help i get here!)

I see this junk:
http://www.systemlookup.com/Startup/9136.html
http://www.systemlookup.com/Startup/16953.html

You are running System Configuration Untility in Selective Startup mode so I have no idea what I can not see?

If you still want help, start like this.

1) Tell me if you know what the O1 - Hosts: items in the HJT log are, did you create them?

2) Right click MyComputer then click Properties. On the General tab in the lower right corner is the RAM count, post that information.

3) Return MSConfig to Normal Start up and create a new HJT log and post it. You may return to Selective Startup without a reboot.

4) Once I have this information, I will respond as soon as possible after you post.

Thanks

1) While Windows XP may run on 256 MB's of RAM, that is about all it will do. Have a look at suggested RAM:
http://www.crucial.com/support/howmuch.aspx
Adding RAM to increase computer speed - Video Tip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiFIgSQOY7g
I do not use resource intense games and I have 1.25 GB's, 5 times what you are running.

2) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP,
Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)
Image: http://img.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/hijackthis/uninstall-man.jpg

3) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

http://www.besttechie.net/mbam/mbam-setup.exe <<< download

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.
