Folks,

I used be a netadmin......in 1990 :D:. When we used build 8086's by hand. I am useless today. I just spent two weeks trying to figure out how my network was compromised and I'm still confused, but I have rebuilt three laptops. Unfortunately my problem continues returning. Hope this is the right place to post?

Here is what is happening: There is a hidden boot file....shell32..* to be in exact. Once this thing runs from an X:\ drive that I don't have it kicks off a bunch of NT hosts (that I don't have) and makes my machine a virtual server? Then it gives someone outside my network the ability to logon and view my work and browse my computer with a special copy of ie (that is hidden according to the registry. It's creating high and low processes and all the stuff behind the scenes is running low and hidden. The only clue I had is because a huge decline in performance overnight.

So, I've been hacking away at services, hidden boot files, "unknown" users, and the registry trying to get rid of this thing. More news at 11:00  Anyway I just rebuilt this machine and it's pretty fresh, but I think it's still there.

I booted just now with hijack and am pasting that file. There looks like a couple of problems. Can someone please give me there expert opinion....and I don't mean about my verbosity:red::thanks:

Hello and welcome to Safer Networking

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

I f you don't know or understand something please don't hesitate to ask
Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

You are running an older version of HijackThis. It is important that you uninstall any previous versions before installing a newer version.

Click HERE (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe) to download HijackThis Installer
Save HijackThis Installer to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HijackThis Installer icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on Edit > Select All then click on Edit > Copy to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.

DO NOT use the AnalyseThis buttonits findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Thanks peku006
