View Full Version : NewDotNet7_22.dll
I have a version of NewDotNet that I cannot remove nor can the latest version of SpyBot. SpyBot sees it and can remove most of the file but not all.
Symantec Antivirus also sees it but cannot remove the whole thing. Symantec sees NewDotNet7_22.dll file. I'm not very technical but have tried just about everything to delete the folder. I get a "C:\Program Files\NewDotNet is not accessible. Access Denied." message both in regular AND safe mode. Because this file is not removed, it keeps reinstalling itself everytime I use Internet Explorer. I'm using Mozilla Firefox.
I have followed the manual removal process as requested by Symantec and all of the procedures followed by the SpyBot malware removal program.
I have used the removal tool at NewDotNet but it appears to be a removal tool for their version 6. All calls and e-mails to New.net fall into a black hole, never to be seen again. I will submit a bug report when requested to do so.
Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

I hope I did this correctly. I've searched for information and have found some solutions but because I'm not running Windows XP I'm hesitant to use them.
I did run FindQool and this was the result:

In my opinion this should be fixed and the program uninstalled

Check for and fix any problems found with SpyBot, afterwards on the results page rightclick and choose copy results to clipboard, copy and past that back here in a reply
Why does SpyBot see SpyHunter as malware? This is spy removal software by enigma. Is this a problem? ~J
After accomplishing your suggested fix. The NewDotNet folder is still there and cannot be removed. I need to reboot per SpyBot scan. I've posted the HijackThis and the SpyBot results. I'll post additional findings if there are any after I reboot.
Here's the HijackThis log after the removal:

In windows control panel > addremove programs uninstall SpyBot then Restart the PC, and delete SpyBots folder in program files,
usualy > C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy
Then download and install 1.4 once thats done, check for updates, then check for problems, fix everything found, always reboot if SpyBots needs to, to finish the cleanup.
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=tutorial
Download found here
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
Although delisted i still recommend uninstalling spyhunter
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
I removed SpyBot' as requested. installed 1.4 and ran updates. I uninstalled SpyHunter. SpyBot found NewDotNet but, even after reboot, did not fix the problem. See copy of results file below. :+{
P.S. I have a new spy ware that I'm going to try to see if I can get a refund for. It's SpywareBot. I thought I was downloading SpyBot and got confused. It was late last night.
What next my friend? Help!!!
Here's the SpyBot result:

Keep that list of rogue programs handy
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
Run Hijackthis click config > misc tools > delete a file on reboot
at the top in the "look in" field browse to the newdotnet folder and add all the files there one at a time, you will be asked if you want to reboot, say no until the last file, after the reboot run SSD check for and fix any problems found..
When I browse to the NewDotNet folder>select it>I cannot open it inorder for HijackThis to add it to the list. I get the 'C:ProgramFiles:NewDotNet is not accessible. Access Denied.' message.
What next?????? How do I ever get rid of it????????

Thats Odd
Perhaps the folders permisions are messed up
is your system NTFS ?
An easy way to check, go start run type cmd press enter
type in
CHKNTFS %SystemDrive%
then type exit and press enter again.
Here's what I get when I type in cmd.
c:\Documents and Settings\my name\CHKNTFS %SystemDrive%
The type of file system is NTFS
c: is not dirty
Does this tell you anything? What a mess!! Thanks for all your help so far.

Not a mess realy
At this point we can either ignore the newdotnet folder (Its not cousing any harm) or take it out, the choice is yours.
Download xcaclsIT.zip to your desktop
(removed link)
Extract the files inside to c:\
that will create a folder called c:\xcaclsIT
open the folder and run xcaclsIT.bat, It will download and install a Microsoft tool, when it is finished fallow the prompts to reboot your PC.
Open the c:\xcaclsIT folder again and run afterreboot.bat
Well, maybe not gone but quarantined and cannot create anymore problems. I had to remove it because whatever was left in that folder kept trying to reload the entire program when I went on the Internet. Doesn't happen now.
I'm so very glad there are people out there willing to help us!!
I am posting the HijackThis file -- clean! and the SpyBot scan - clean!! I think this is requested. :bigthumb: Keep up the great work.

Are you familur with services ?
Go start run type in services.msc hit ok, find (be very careful)
"Windows Update Service" double click it to bring up the properties
on that first page make sure you have the correct service !!, it will show the path to the bad file
C:\WINNT\services.exe (NOT C:\WINNT\system32\services.exe)
Under "startup type" set it to disabled , click apply OK then exits services
If you have any problems dont make any changes, the file is no longer present and cannot couse any harm.
However, at the moment, I am not experiencing any problems. I'm going to buy a new computer soon with XP operating system so I'm not sure if I need to do anything. Can you tell me what this bad file does? If something starts to happen I will know what to do. I really appreciate all your help.

Were you able to disable it ? if not it realy doesnt matter since the file has been deleted.
Any other questions/problems ?
But no other problems. Everything coming up clean! You are the best! I'm so happy to report that you can consider this case closed!
Thanks so much.
