Hi..

I am having problems with myway.mywebsearch. I checked the forums for troubleshooting ideas with this prob and found some instructions from Shaba. I think the thread is already closed for it. I was told to copy-paste the log here. I hope I did the right thing here. Thanks for the help!

Did you read the "Before you Post" directions?

Please note that all instructions given are customized for that member's computer only, the tools used may cause damage if run on a computer with different infections. Your symptoms may only appear to be similar. Regardless, please do not take fixes given to another user and apply to your own machine.

Personal Antivirus, also known as PersonalAntivirus, is a fake Antivirus application. Obviously, the creators tried to make it look legit so they can steal your money. Personal Antivirus normally comes up after you visited some malicious websites, or installed a video codec that come with Trojan, malware and virus. Personal Antivirus usually generates fake and misleading system error messages. The intention of Personal Antivirus is to trick innocent web surfers into purchasing Personal Antivirus.

and because TeaTimer is NOT disabled as instructed, I must assume you have not read the instructions. If you still want help, we will start like this.

1) Read the "Before you Post" instructions.

2) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

3) Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to My Web Search Service and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

4) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

5) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
