• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

How do I turn off Spybot's built-in popups?

Does anyone know how to disable Spybot's teatimer popups that display and warn the user whenever they are about to make system changes(registry edits for example)? I've attached an example of Spybot's popup warning below...

The oddest part about these popups is that on some machines where I've installed spybot, the popups wont appear when editing the registry/installing software however on other machines it does. Does this possibly have to do with having an outdated version of teatimer?

Any help with this is greatly appreciated as its driving me a bit nuts ;)

:thanks:

tdadamo:

What version of TeaTimer (System settings protector) are you running?

To determine that:
  • Right click on the TeaTimer icon (actually labeled "Spybot-SD Resident") in the notification area (system tray area) of the taskbar.
  • Select "About".
  • This should yield a pop-up dialog with both the version of Spybot - Search & Destroy and the "System settings protector" (TeaTimer).
I am currently running TeaTimer 1.6.6.32 and most messages are answered automatically unless you set TeaTimer to "Paranoid mode". However, a change of your browser start page, like the example you provided, are usually not answered automatically and therefore the dialog message is not suppressed.

1.6.4.26

Was it the case that for older versions of tea timer that these "allow changes" popups would occur much more frequently? Im just trying to figure out why some versions of spybot seem to prompt the user with these "allow change" popups almost non-stop and yet with other versions, I have yet to see this happen.

Thanks for the help :)
