Spybot found MainPean. Will spybot fix this, or are there additional steps to take?

Hi r_rod,

:welcome: to Safer Networking Forums. ;)

Spybot should be able to delete this problem if it was found. Moreover, you can try to fix it in safe mode (http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml).

Do you have problems with other Malware?

I don't know yet. I had to leave while Spybot was still running the scan. It was 50% complete when I left. MainPean was all that was found at that time. I am going back to see if there is anything else. This is someone else's computer. They asked me to look at it because the computer was running slower than normal. I asked them not to shutdown spybot so I can see the entire scan results. I was concerned because when I looked up MainPean, search results stated that MainPean can or does load other programs. So with that stated, would those other programs be removed also when MainPean is removed, or do I need to see the entire scan results to see if Spybot found those as well?

Yes, you need to see the complete scan... You should fix everything that Spybot found. Moreover, update the Antivirus program and run a complete scan as well.

If the computer is still slow and acting strange, then you should open a new thread in the Malware Removal Forum (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22). Therefore, please don't forget to read the thread "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288). An analyst will have a look on it as soon as possible. :thanks:

If you have any questions, please feel free to answer. ;)
