ATDMT Tracking Cookie

Hi,
My security program (AVG) detects this tracking cookie and I remove it. Each time I open and close Windows Live Mail it reinstates. AVG has tried to help me permanently remove to to no avail.
I would appreciate your expert help. I did add HOSTS entries to block it in the future.

You should be able to control cookies from within the browser settings itself.
In firefox you can set a exception for certain cookies and have FF automatically delete cookies when closed. Of course a host file entry should also work. Some websites may require cookies in order for you to do certain things on the site, like log in or check mail.

I do have atdmt blocked in HOSTS and in Firefox. I do not accept third party cookies. I delete cookies when I exit FF. Atdmt is identified as a tracking cookie, thus my concern. It will reinstate upon open and close of Windows Live Mail even with the FF browser closed. I would like to get it removed!

What infection? Are you having any signs (http://www.virusvault.us/signs1.html)of malware? Other than the cookie that is. Really, if your only concerned about cookies then your doing it all right. Your computer habits Iam referring to. Practicing safe hex.

No I don't have any of those signs other than the last one:

I don't expect a tracking cookie to report back with my Social Security Nr. and my Credit Union account number. (they are not on my computer anyway) I don't know what they are collecting but I don't like the invasion of privacy. As I said the cookie comes back upon open and close of email without a browser being open.

I worked with my security program provider, AVG, and we concluded that the ATDMT was being repeatedly introduced by Windows Live Mail. I have now switched to Thunderbird and I no longer am plagued by ATDMT. Windows live mail has a lot of characteristics that are similar to a browser in function so I think my conclusion is plausible. As a further precaution I blocked ATDMT in Fire Fox, Internet Explorer and HOSTS.
