View Full Version : Something is constantly downloading malware to my PC

I just went through hell with viruses/malware on my computer. It was so bad I ended up re-installing windows from scratch (no HD re-format however). I now have all patches, re-installed virus scanner, malwarebytes and spybot up to date. Prior to the re-format my computer was constantly downloading data (between 1K and 20K bytes per Windows Task Manager interval) even when the computer was idle. After the re-install it's still constantly downloading data. Also two days since re-format and two days of new issues detected by Malwarebytes. Here are the issues I have today:

c:\system volume information\_restore{f3057efe-c882-4064-9728-ebbee55a73f6}\RP537\A0170801.sys (Trojan.TDSS) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
c:\system volume information\_restore{f3057efe-c882-4064-9728-ebbee55a73f6}\RP537\A0170802.dll (Trojan.TDSS) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
c:\system volume information\_restore{f3057efe-c882-4064-9728-ebbee55a73f6}\RP537\A0170804.dll (Trojan.TDSS) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Yesterday I had the identical issues but the filenames were called:
rp537\A0170803.dll
rp537\A0170805.dll
rp537\A0170806.dll

So I'm guessing something is constantly downloading this stuff to my computer even after a full windows reinstall :( Here's the Hijack results. I hope someone can help!

Hi kenih

Those are in system restore and not active. We will flush it later.

Please go to Kaspersky website (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html) and perform an online antivirus scan.

Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button: Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
Archives
Click on My Computer under Scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
