Hi,

The keyboard of my laptop does not respond and sometimes it will just type one alphabet. couple of days ago it typed 54 pages of the alphabet "f" and I had to close word to stop this.

I have combo fix on my laptop from a earlier problem and yesterday my mistake my wife ran it thinking it's something that will fix the issue.

hi,

Windows XP SP1
you need to visit windows updates, the updates will "patch" vulnerabilities in windows and MS products. Vulnerabilities can be used to push malware if not patched, the download will be a massive one (lots and lots of holes to plug) hope you have broadband. Do this below first:

First so that Tea timer dosnt interfere you can disable it. How:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

next:

start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [rcixc1jk] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rcixc1jk.exe

next, navigate to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 directory, look for and delete:
rcixc1jk.exe

You can also get another download to keep and use as a anti-malware solution;

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) to your desktop:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Be sure that everything is checked, and click **Remove Selected.**

**A restart of your computer most likely will be required to remove some items.**

When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

Post the log in your reply. Also rescan and post a new hjt log.

RE: the keyboard. Laptops can use proprietary hardware, software and drivers. The vendors website would be a good place to start for the keyboard issue.

hi,

looks like MBAM removed some goodies. The keyboard issue is still the same, correct?

RE:LimeWire, there is plenty of malware that is distributed via p2p networks that one can download and install.

RE:KEYGEN FOR publisher 2003, keygens, cracks etc are very popular for carrying malware payloads

did you visit your laptop vendors website for the keyboard issue? Most maintain good troubleshooting information.
