View Full Version : Several problems following Trojan infection
Gents,
I definitely need help.......my computer was/is infected by several trojans and Malware, Spybot, windows defender and Avira were able to recover the computer (I think........:sad::sad: ) as I don't have now the problems I had before such as Firefox or IE redirecting me to weird pages....however I still do have a searching thing that is driving me nuts...."ASK"...
I'm running a Laptop Toshiba Satellite P300, OS Windows Vista Home Premium SP2...
I have no sound despite the fact that I've reloaded the drivers...the integrated camera doesn't work and it gives me a msg every time I try to start it "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer".....also the messenger has a problem, on startup of the computer it installs but at the end of the installation shows me a message as follows "not possible to open key hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\drivers32" ....
CCLeaner doesn't show any errors either....
I'm stuck and I don't know what can be done....

Possible that you may have to reinstall programs including the webcam that are not working right, let's see how it goes. Please start by reading and following the "Before you Post" directions pinned to the top of this forum and posted above, then post the required HJT log.
Please DO NOT ENABLE Spybot S&D TeaTimer while we work together.
Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Thanks for the feedback, starting with the uninstall list.
I look for malware and security issues and will not know all of your programs, but you should.
Hackers are using out of date programs to infect folks more and more,
Here is a small free tool that lets you know when something needs an update if you are interested:

Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to RelevantKnowledge and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
5) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
7) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

After 1 hour and something of Malwarebyte scanning the thing found two trojans...all delected and computer restarted....:eek::eek: I HAVE SOUND NOW....however the other two problems persist after Restart

If you look at the items in the MBAM results, you will see they were likely downloaded by someone who uses the computer when signed in as autur silva.
Before we consider another scan, please provide the information I requested about a router and give my suggestions a try.

You might also try to reinstall the sofware now since the Trojan.DNSChanger was Quarantined and deleted successfully.
That's the surprising thing...this movie has been in the computer for ages....
Concerning the messages.....when I start up the laptop Windows live tries to install....all goes well until I receive the following message
"not possible to open key hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\drivers32"
It requests if I have the rights to open it or if not to contact support.....
After this the installation process reverts back and windows messenger starts normally...
Regarding the camera....It's a Toshiba Satellite P300-15D, and the camera it's an integrated 1.3 MP which I believe is made by Chicony...I've tried to reload the driver with no results, every time I try to start the camera it gives me the following message
"Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer."

After my post gave it another try to install the drivers to the camera....I've unistalled the camera and on startup windows started searching for it, I get the following
"New Hardware found, unknown device.
Windows found the software for the device controller but detected an error when trying to install, Chicony USB 2.0 Camera, access denied"
