SpyBot won't update. HJT installs, doesn't run.

I started getting the FireFox redirect, so I tried to run SpyBot update. It wouldn't so I downloaded SB anew but it still wouldn't. Msg is "Error retrieving update info file!"

Now I've done the ERUNT thing as directed, and downloaded HJT and installed it, but when I run HJT nothing happens. No processes started. No config screens. It hourglasses for a few seconds, then nothing.

XP Pro SP2, Athlon 64 2GHz, 1Gb RAM, cable modem, linksys router (wired), no proxy or firewall
