i am working on a friend's hp with xp media os. there were issues with ie 8, an error was happening that said ie 8 would have to shut down, although you could close error box and keep browsing. when i first tried to scan with spybot, the scan just disappeared. i started the scan in safe mode, and found 573 problems, zango and zango spam had the most entries. i removed the threats, and spybot offered to start a scan on startup, i clicked yes and restarted the system. now the pc is in a loop of restarting in the middle of the scan, i have tried to turn off the scan, but i believe that there is an entry in the command box. i do not have tea timer enabled but i will recheck that. did not realize that there were issues with spybot and ie 8, am going to try to uninstall ie 8 in safe mode. i have gone into advanced mode to turn off the scan, can anyone help? i have never had any problems with spybot and have been using it for years, so i did not create a backup while installing it.
