View Full Version : Daily Threats to ZERO Consistently

I have a feeling something is wrong but don't know enough to tell what that might be. I bought a new computer about 3 months ago and the computer tech set up Spybot to automatically check my computer daily during the night. For the last three months I've daily woken up to find anywhere from 7 to 31 spywares threats that were detected and dealt with.

So suddenly in the last week I'm waking up and find ZERO threats found. If this happened once or twice that would be something but every day for about 7 days in a row is too unusual for me to think everything is ok.

Can anyone comment? Did I accidentally do something to turn off the degree to which Spybot searches my computer?

Have you changed your browser settings recently to block third-party cookies,or anything like that?

Could you open Spybot, click Mode,Advanced Mode,Tools,View Report, then click View Previous Report. You should see some text files with names like this(just for an example.):Fixes.090410-0151.txt
The number in bold is the date.
Could you doubleclick one from before this last week?
It should open in the Spybot window, please rightclick, select "Select All",then rightclick again, select Copy, then paste it here.

thank you for your reply to my problem. I neglected to say that after the problem started I was trying to resolve the issue myself and "I think" I tried to install a new version of Spybot.

So in looking at the "View Previous Reports" I cannot find any reports from "before" the problem started. Here is the oldest one which is only a few days old:

31.07.2009 00:00:09 - ##### check started #####
31.07.2009 00:00:09 - ### Version: 1.6.2
31.07.2009 00:00:09 - ### Date: 7/31/2009 12:00:09 AM
31.07.2009 00:00:11 - ##### checking bots #####
31.07.2009 00:35:43 - ##### check finished #####

It's probably ok. :)
Spybot not finding spyware threats all of a sudden doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. It could be that Spybot may have just been finding and fixing tracking cookies before, and if you immunized with Spybot recently,and/or changed your browser settings to block third-party cookies,and/or started using Spybot sdhelper, then they would be blocked, which would explain why they're not detected during a scan,if that is what Spybot was finding before.

But,just to be sure, you could do this:
If your operating system is Windows Vista, rightclick Spybot and select Run As Administrator.
(If you're running XP or below, just doubleclick Spybot.)
Click Settings,then File Sets.
Somewhere in the window to the right, rightclick and select Spyware check only,if it doesn't already have a checkmark beside it.

You can put Spybot back to normal by going to Mode, and selecting Default Mode.

Multiple thanks for your help. Sure does feel strange after finding multiple problems every day to be going on a month now with not a single problem found. thanks for the help.
