Hello,
I have AVG 8.5 and it is always popping up with a psw.agent.abku in the winlogon.exe file, It cannot delete the file because it is whitelisted. I did a scan with spybot and malwarebytes and both were clean. Here is the hijack this log.

Hello,
We have a problem, when I got home and tried to start the computer it keeps going to the windows screen and it shuts down and restarts. I tried safe mode and last known good configuration and neither works. Not sure what I can do now. The laptop is several years old and it doesn't have a boot sector and I have no idea where the restore disks are.

I am afraid that AVG might have quarantined winlogon.exe as that would prevent logging in to windows.

Does it have recovery console installed?

Here is what happened, I was able to boot using the windows cd repair tool, I went to the system32 folder and winlogon.exe was missing, like you thought. I then noticed there was a winlogon.old file, I renamed it and windows booted fine. I updated my AVG and did a scan and it came back clean. What should I do now?

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune and save
it to desktop.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser

Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit to close ATF-Cleaner.

Hello,
I used the ATF cleaner, that will take care of those Java exploits? The computer seems to be fine, the AVG isn't popping up with the infection anymore.
