Well,
I took your advice as best I could Sandra, but profile still lost!

1) UPGRADED TO 1.6.2
2) Logged on as admin
3) Ran Spybot
4) Re-booted and logged in as user
5) User profile still not recognised (though it still exists in C:\Documents and Settings)
So as per previous query:
a) why does this happen?
b) why does 'recovery' not give option to recover these green items?
c) what is the easiest way to get my user profile back
