I downloaded and installed 1.4 and I cannot update or get a server it says "error retrieving update info file! HTTP/1.1500 (connection refused). I have disabled my firewall (windows) and downloaded the detection rules. What else should I be doing? I need to get a server! I have searched the forums, but I get a bit confused. Your advise will be greatly appreciated.

In the past Socket Error # 10061 has indicated proxy server access problems. Do you access the internet through a proxy server? If so:
Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced mode > Settings > Settings. About 2/3 of the way down the option tree there is a category "Web update". Check the last item in the list "Use proxy to connect to update server". A pop-up will come up were you can enter the information required.

If you are sitting behind a proxy server and need to know what the settings should be, there are hints in the following article on how to find them:

The integrated update is not working. Are there any solutions for this?

Thanks for your post. I have configured my proxy settings already and in my internet options allows for this site, and my firewall is off. I also have AdAware on my pc. Could this be the problem or is there a registry problem?

Don't disable your Windows firewall, that's a bad idea. Just wait for md usa spybot fan help.

Besides firewall and proxy settings, I really don't know what the problem could be.

Is it possible that because I am on a lan at work that the administrative firewall has blocked it? I have used it before and it worked fine on this pc until I got a new pc with xp in our office. Maybe xp has something to to do with it?
