On IE tweaks I have the option to lock host files, but Spybot does not offer me the tool to lock my IE settings. Is this because I have Vista? I use to have this option on another computer. Can someone please explain:confused:

Thank you Zenobia. Yes, I did see your post , but, I'm just curious as to why this option isn"t available for Vista:confused:I share my computer with other people in my home and someone keeps changing my internet options. I would like to have that tool available. Is there any way I could make that request? I'm a newbie with this forum,so, maybe you can point me in the right direction:thanks:

Locking the IE start page setting against user changes and locking the IE control panel against opening from within IE for the current user can be set using the registry editor manually, but having those two options within Spybot gave people not familiar with regedit a safer way to do it.

With Vista, those options aren't available in Spybot anymore, but I haven't been able to find on this forum exactly why in any searches. And searching on the registry restrictions on the Internet shows one restriction is supposed to be able to be done on Vista, but I couldn't find any info on the other option.

Perhaps it's related to Internet Explorer running in protected mode,or maybe its not an option in Spybot in Vista due to user choices related to User Account Control/running as admin, but that is really me just guessing.

Since it is unavailable in Vista on this version of Spybot, maybe you could ask in the suggestions thread in the beta forum if it is possible for those options to be available in a future version of Spybot. :)
