Hi flywelder

Download at your desktop DDS from one of the links below:

Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds)

Double click the tool to run it.
A black Screen will open, just read the contents and do nothing.
When the tool finish it will open 2 reports.
Copy/paste both reports back here and remove DDS from your desktop.

Thanks Shaba,
and I apologize for asking for help on a topic other than this virus.
I just gets confusing for me, having so many windows open at once and then to have a computer wizard like yourself so "handy/nearby" .... that is a blessing to me!...I find it hard not to ask you questions....but I will post my questions to other forums. :)

I should have placed this in the earlier posting......but It is late here, 1:14 AM actually.
I need to sign off and get to bed.
Sorry to have to leave , but my eyes are heavy and morning comes so quickly/ and early!
I greatly appreciate your help..oh yes i do!! :)) :))
I will read your next steps Wed.
Oh and thanks , for the lime wire info. I have not used it since 2007......I thought if you never visited the sight you were safe, and I simply forgot about it begin on the computer...now I know differently!....your the best!!
Again, thank you!:)

Take your time and continue with this when you can :)

Please go to Kaspersky website (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html) and perform an online antivirus scan.

Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button: Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
Archives
Click on My Computer under Scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

I have installed , and update regularly and I have AVG run a scan every day at 4:00AM .
I am installing and running Kaspersky now.

Shaba

No need to install Kaspersky Antivirus if you are doing it :)

Just running online scan is good here.

now, I have AVG running in background, I do not know how to turn AVG off temporarily ? or should I just let AVG run while kaspersky scans?

Sorry if I miss lead you, I must have used wrong wording in my last posting, I am following your instructions and
( I hope) ......just having it scan my computer...it did take a while and loaded files to my hard drive......

Hi, ..if I understood correctly, then Tashi has asked me to post this question here.... however I am getting slightly confused and feel I am in the fog and it is thickening around me......the bottom of each of you's postings says to not post questions here but to do so in the forums.....forgive me and any confusion I may cause while I am here....I want to follow the rules but I am not understanding them as well as I once thought i did.

My question is:
I am downloading these dds.scr....... when it is finished downloading i can not find it without doing a search...can I create a folder with a desktop icon to have downloads go to so I can easily find them?
I am using Windows XP 2002 home edition

Shaba ..just so you know, it has been two hrs. and i think....the scan is still running, but I am not 100% certain, will I know for certain when it is finished?

Thank you

Trend High Jack found 20 problems!!!!

So why when, I have had AVG installed for a year and I update regularly each week and I have AVG run a scan every day at 4:00AM ......
AVG never finds any problems ?????? Might I have it set up wrong?
Is AVG not as good as bragged to be?...what protection does work?....and is free? or does not cost an arm and a leg every year?

How will I know or how can I determine if I have what is called
"script blocking tools"
What are script blocking tools?
Is it good to have these?
if not,......then:
How did I get them?
how do I get rid of them?
how do i keep from getting them?

Hello Shaba,
I just checked the scan progree again and it says the same as it did 2 hrs. ago, which is this :

Objects scanned9589
scan duration: 00:11:06
scan progress 0%

is this normal?
Will it take longer?
or has it stalled / froze up?
should I continue to wait or ______?

And Shaba , there is nothing in the report area, I looked.

How did you attempt to save DDS? Right-click and save target as?

Different antiviruses find different malware and no antivirus can can find all malware.

Script blocking tools are included to antivirus software to prevent launching of malicious scripts.

You might want to try again that scan if no progress.

Shaba, this is Thursday night 9-03-09
Kaspersky web site has not changed, still at:
Objects scanned9589
scan duration: 00:11:06
scan progress 0%

today the computer would not respond to any key board buttons!
Today, minutes ago, I had to soft boot my computer to get any response.....
reboot took 2 hrs. to bring desk top up.
But spybot was up over desk top so that I could not see desk top......????

Firefox would not load right way like usually?
Now every time I click the Firefox icon on my desk top to go to the web Spy bot starts scanning????? it takes 2 minutes to get to the web?!!! unacceptable.

Suddenly, My Computer is extremely slowwwwwwww!

Now spy bot is scanning every web page I click to go to and it takes 70 sec. to load each and every page!!! why why?? very Unacceptable.
I am getting pop up windows with words that say something about script is not working or writing do you want to stop it or wait?...Shaba ...how should I know what to do? .would this be the script for anti virus that you wrote about??

I am not trying to be difficult..I am just confused and feeling very helpless....please understand, when I say, this makes me very nervous, trusting a stranger to help me fix my computer and to allow the stranger to read my computer's internal settings from half way around the world. :)
So having AVG alone is not enough....mmmmm? and maybe not worth having at all since it did not find any that spy bot found!
What other anti virus should I have...there are so many, and I have read bad reports from users on about most of them! What novice wants to spend precious time downloading and installing crappy anti virus programs! that is and would be very frustrating...and then having to uninstall the worthless ones! and probably not clean out every last file and folder the program made! rrrgggggg!

yes that is how I am saving the DDS... .right click and save as.

OK, as you wish, I will go back to Kaspersky and attempt to start it again.

Meanwhile, Why are the smiley face icons from the forum site, that i choose for my postings not showing up in my posts?
I wait your answers and instructions.

Shaba do I want kaspersky to scan emails and archives?, there are check marks in their respected boxes

Do i want to scan my computer or just critical areas?
I am waiting your reply. :) :)

Then please run this instead:

Please go to ESET Online Scanner (http://www.eset.eu/online-scanner) - © ESET All Rights Reserved... to run an online scan.
Note: You - will - need to use Internet Explorer for this scan!
Check the box next to "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
Click "Start"
Click Yes... at the run ActiveX prompt. Click Install... at the install ActiveX prompt.
Once installed, the scanner will be initialized.
Click "Start". Make sure that the options: Remove found threats is UNCHECKED
Scan unwanted applications is CHECKED
Click "Scan"
Wait for the scan to finish... it may take a while... please be patient. When the scan is finished...
Use Notepad to open the log file located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
Copy and paste the contents of log.txt in your next reply.

AVG is not bad. It is just that no antivirus can find all. Then it comes to prevention.

Which script isn't working?

flywelder
2009-09-04, 18:20
Shaba , it the scan would stop frequently and I would have to choose to allow the script to continue...hoping it was a good thing to do ... , I found out is must be OK to do so, because, saying no, stopped the scan completely and I would have to start the scan from the very beginning. So here it is, does it tell you what you anted to learn? and does it give us some clues to where the virus is hiding?

Do I still need to run the other scan site?
I am watching for the script error notices so I can share them with you.

I had to turn off all virus protection and also scan bot and Ad Aware.... in order to run Kaspersky and get Kaspersky to finish....shall I leave the protections off for now while we work together, or reactivate them?

Also why does Spybot scan every web page before I can see the page?
I thought it would only be active when I clicked to activate it from the desk top and than have it search for problems?
I await your reply to this also.
SHaba...thanks, thanks for your patience with me, and your time. I do honestly appreciate this.

Shaba, yes when wee finish I want to learn about prevention and build up my defenses. and find another virus protection program other than AVG.

So I am assuming then, that a paid for version of Virus protection is not better than the free versions? am I correct? ...somewhat correct?

Shaba just how many Virus protection programs and anti spy ware programs must a home owner like myself have to protect his computer?

Shaba
2009-09-04, 19:14
No need to run.

"I had to turn off all virus protection and also scan bot and Ad Aware.... in order to run Kaspersky and get Kaspersky to finish....shall I leave the protections off for now while we work together, or reactivate them?"

Reactivate please

"Also why does Spybot scan every web page before I can see the page?"

Not sure what you mean by this.

"Shaba just how many Virus protection programs and anti spy ware programs must a home owner like myself have to protect his computer?"

One both :)

SHaba,
when I have spybot actively running, and I click my desk top icon to go to the web and yahoo....spybot places a window on my desk top that informs me to wait, as it is scanning process. This same scenario happens when I want to leave yahoo and go to any other web page....this slows my browser considerably.
can you explain why this is happening and what i can do to eliminate this?
Thanks
Flywelder

Do you mean when running spybot scan or is it TeaTimer?

SHaba,
Not being certain myself which it is scan or Tea Timer.....I am going to lean towards Tea timer because, .........when I said I have spybot actively running, I am referring to not having deactivated Spy bot.
So in other words lets assume Sybot finished its scan and all windows are finished and closed but sybot has not been deactivated. The computer has been idol for 5 hours.
I then sit down in front of the computer and wiggle the mouse, to energize the monitor and look at the desk top. Now I choose to look at my email at yahoo and I click on the desktop icon for fire fox. Firefox begins to load but within seconds a window opens on the monitor , with a message from Spybot that, announcing that Spy bot has begun to scan the fire fox program...and so I must wait till spybot is finished before fire fox will load and then wait some more to have my home page load. This happens every time I want to go to the web. or every time I decide to go from web page to web page.

Does this explanation help to clearly get across what i am experiencing?
I can try again if need be, I am here to help.

PS: what are our next steps to rid me of that virus?

SHaba,
Toghter we are on the hunt for these trojens!! Viruses , BEWARE! were after you!......SHaba, I have several viruses and Trojans that I don't hink we were aware of because No protection program or software scans are identifying these?!!!

How did i determine i had these?...here's how:
I pulled up my Windows task manager and began typing in the names of processes that I saw listed and do not recognize.....in order to learn what they are, and at least 3 are bad viruses and I expect there will be more as I continue.
I am starting with jucheck.exe
I have it!!
But to get rid of it I learned I must locate the folder named "dllcache" that supposedly resides inside "system 32 folder.
Shaba help me locate the dllcache folder...I looked and I can not find it listed in System32.......please tell me SHaba, with Windows XP home edition, is folder dllcache named something else? Or located somewhere other than folder system 32???
I await your reply

flywelder, please make sure you do wait for Shaba's further instructions and don't mess with anything in the meantime, unless you are planning on turning that PC into a doorstop.

Best regards.

Thank you Tashi for reminding me.
SHaba, I await your instructions before I do anything.

SHaba so you know, I spent 3 hrs. tonight checking and I think I only have one virus left. But I think I have 10 services and 22 drivers that R active and do not belong to the operating system.
I also noted that I see where i may have a BHO Worm radar.com IESiteblocker.navfilter...????

I'll know more from you...I await your commands.

So we disable it then.

You are running both Ad-Watch and TeaTimer while you should be running only one of them.

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

"I pulled up my Windows task manager and began typing in the names of processes that I saw listed and do not recognize.....in order to learn what they are, and at least 3 are bad viruses and I expect there will be more as I continue.
I am starting with jucheck.exe
I have it!!"

No, they are not. It depends on location. Yours are legit.

"SHaba so you know, I spent 3 hrs. tonight checking and I think I only have one virus left. But I think I have 10 services and 22 drivers that R active and do not belong to the operating system.
I also noted that I see where i may have a BHO Worm radar.com IESiteblocker.navfilter...????"

Yes but they are still legit :) You can easily check that by just googling service name and/or driver name.

BHO is legit as well, link (http://www.systemlookup.com/search.php?type=clsid&client=malwaresearch-ff&search=3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0)

SHaba, What you told me in your last posting has greatly helped put me at ease .

I will follow your instructions and report back when I have completed them.

Meanwhile I ran spy bot S&D again last night 9-04-09 and the only virus is still that V virus. below is the report from Spybot S&D for 9-05-09 if it is of help to you I post it here. Later today I will run sypbot S&D in advanced mode, and report the finding s here.

Again , I say Thank you Shaba! Double thumbs up to you!

The report below I had to shorten because it was too large for this posting, I hope I have included all important info.

Does it find same thing upon rescan?

yes scans find the same things each time.

2009-09-06, 06:02
Web pages load slowly.
Also, every time I click the fire fox icon on my desk top, in order to go to the WWW. .........Spybot S&D is prompting me with : " New processes are being scanned"
And so i must wait 50 secs. and sometimes 70-80- sec. for my yahoo home page to appear on my monitor., plus, I am stuck for at these times,.....the computer will not respond to any other commands from the key board...I just sit and wait on Sybot to finish. ...i don't have to tell you , I don't like this waiting. I am used to Yahoo being on my monitor within 3-6 secs. or less.

This is not a normal characteristic to spybot I hope?...is it.

Is there any changes we can make ourselves to eliminate this?

Shaba should I instruct Spybot S&D to repair the Virtumonde virus that is in my computer?

SHaba, I am off to bed, my eyes are very heavy now. I'll read your replies and instructions in the morning.
Thanks Shaba!

Yes you should.

Did you disable TeaTimer as instructed?

flywelder
2009-09-08, 05:42
Shaba, AN update since our last correspondence. Today is 9-07-09. I Disabled Tea Timer. and rebooted.
I the ran spybot in Advanced mode.
Later, Sybot reported that it only found the V virus and I instructed Spybot to remove and repair. It must have did so, as I now notice a green check mark was placed beside the virus listing.

I then re-enabled Tea Timer

Shaba, answer me this. Should I Immunize now, which would be the first time since having a clean machine? yes I immunized as instructed when I first installed Spybot S&D I am asking if I should do so again?

Shaba how often do i need to immunize?

Shaba, please answer for me ... should I and then how do i then do the following:

****** Locking the hosts file.........because as you know, doing so will prevent most hosts hijackers (even unknown) from doing harm;

should I and how do I do this:
*****lock the IE settings in order to prevent other users of your computer to change your preferences.

And should I, and then how do i do this:

******change the Internet Explorer title to a user-defined text, or remove a pre-defined text.

Shaba, any tips for me on avoiding getting any of these viruses and malware and Trojans again?..... other than not using lime wire... :)

Once again, A big thank you is sent to you Shaba!

Yes you should. After each spybot update.

No, I don't think that those are 100% needed, at least last one isn't needed.

Does spybot still find something?

Shaba,
I think the virus is gone???? I will run another scan today and report back the results.
Meanwhile, please answer these Qs.
1) Is it OK to delete temporary update files for AVG?

2) Will there be temporary update files left on my hard drive by spybot S&D that I will need to get rid of?
and if so,how do I get rid of them?

Shaba

2) No there shouldn't be.

Still something?

See below for my tips for the future:

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Please download JavaRa (http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=javara&filename=JavaRa.zip&use_mirror=osdn) and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer before continuing!***

Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

Then download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 16 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp).

Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of a third party firewall.

As the term conveys, a firewall is an extra layer of security installed onto computers, which restricts access to systems from the outside world. Firewalls protect against hackers and malicious intruders. I want you to download a free firewall NOW from one of these excellent vendors:

1) Comodo (http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html) (Uncheck during installation "Install COMODO Antivirus (Recommended)"!, "Install Comodo SafeSurf..", Make Comodo my default search provider" and "Make Comodo Search my homepage")
2) Online Armor (http://www.tallemu.com/online_armor_free.html)
3) PC Tools (http://www.pctools.com/firewall/download/)
4) Sunbelt/Kerio (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio-Download.cfm)
5) ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en&lid=nav_za) (uncheck ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker during installation if you choose this one)

If you are using the built-in Windows XP firewall, it is not recommended as it does not block outgoing connections. This means that any malware on your computer is free to "phone home" for more instructions. Simply put, Windows XP contains a mediocre firewall. This firewall is NO replacement for a dedicated software solution. Remember to use only one firewall at the same time.

Next we remove all used tools.

Please download OTCleanIt (http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTC.exe) and save it to desktop.

Double-click OTCleanIt.exe.
Click the CleanUp! button.
Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTCleanIt attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

You can find instructions on how to enable and re-enable system restore here:

Windows XP System Restore Guide (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html)

Re-enable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt

Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable

Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable

Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt

Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt

Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt

When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.

If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

Update your AntiVirus Software and keep your other programs up-to-date
Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.
Secunia Software Inspector (http://secunia.com/software_inspector/)
F-secure Health Check (http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00001356.html)

Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com (http://www.windowsupdate.com) regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

Install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is a new and powerful anti-malware tool. It is
totally free but for real-time protection you will have to pay a small one-time fee. Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found below:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Setup Guide (http://www.lognrock.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6926)

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Scanning Guide (http://www.lognrock.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6913)

Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial49.html)

Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Here are some additional utilities that will enhance your safety

MVPS Hosts file (http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm) <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
Winpatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/) <= Download and install the free version of Winpatrol. a tutorial for this product is located here:
Using Winpatrol to protect your computer from malicious software (http://www.winpatrol.com/features.html)

Stand Up and Be Counted ---> Malware Complaints (http://www.malwarecomplaints.info/index.php) <--- where you can make difference!

The site offers people who have been (or are) victims of malware the opportunity to document their story and, in that way, launch a complaint against the malware and the makers of the malware.

SHaba,
WOw ! that is great info you shared! thanks! I wil follow it! I am so glad you included the info on the Windows firewall ...for I was about to reply saying but, I have windows firewall operating......

SHaba I have a question about two things.
1) every now and then while i am reading a web page or my emails at yahoo a prompts will appear on my screen that says "spybot is scanning processes"... is this normal or alerting me to a problem? as I was just reading, not moving the mouse or anything.

2) I have attached a screen shot of a prompt I am still getting frequently, is this safe or alerting me to a problem and why is this prompt appearing?

3) should I keep or uninstall the "CW shredder program" icon you can see on my desk top in the screen shot?

4) should I delete or keep the "Java Water" icon you can see in the screen shot?..what does it do any way?

Shaba

1) Yes as you have TeaTimer on.

2) Looks like to be related to yahoo! mail. Are you using NoScript?

3) You can uninstall it.

4) It seems to be a folder. What is inside?

Shaba, answers to your questions.

1) referring to the script question, you ask if i am using No Script...my answer is: I have not a clue, ....how do I determine if i do or do not, Shaba?

2)the Java water was an old picture from 2 years ago...I deleted it.

3) I will turn off Spybot S&D and occasionally reopen it and run a scan to hunt for problems... and install Spyware blaster do I understand this to be one of the things you want me to do?

Shaba,
I use Fire fox and not internet explorer.

Do the changes you suggest also apply to Firefox?..... because i just looked in Tools ( of firefox) and i do not see words such as you typed, like: Active X ; IFrame and navigate sub frame...etc. ... can you provide help/ direction and explanation.
Shaba, Do I still need to open Internet explorer and make the changes you suggest?

Shaba, when you say to "close all instances of internet explorer before starting" if I am not using Internet exploer, will I have any still on / open?
And does this include Firefox?

SHaba,
I choose to install PC Tools firewall.
I downloaded it and when I attempt to open it, a prompt appears saying: this is not a valid win 32 application.

And i can go no further.
SHaba, how am i to interpret this, and to mean what? and what are my options now?

Shaba,

Java RA can not finish ..I think it can not finish running....because suddenly a prompt appeared and said: this program had failed and i needed to send a report to Microsoft.
What has caused this, and What do you suggest i do ?

Shaba
2009-09-14, 07:27
1)It is firefox addon, link (http://www.google.fi/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnoscript.net%2F&ei=u8WtSuvGCcf5_AbzqO2rBg&rct=j&q=noscript&usg=AFQjCNG6f-6kQ1nuYLCdbdDXbHA9r3LjHQ)

3) Yes.

No, they don't; they are for IE only.

Then please try some another firewall :)

Then you can just simply uninstall old Javas via Control Panel - Add/remove programs and install latest one from my link.

SHaba,
I Understand to try and install another firewall..but , the issues remains: each one I cannot install because a prompt appears when i try, that reads: "This is not a valid Win.32 application"

what that is attempting to tell me I do not know, but I do know I cannot install these....now what?

2) I attempted to install Spyware blaster42 setup and a prompt appeared when I attempted to open this download that read: This is not a valid Win.32 application.

What now shaba?

Shaba

SHaba,
I just toady started getting insatances where my computer is severely delayed in responding to the mouse or keyboard, ...after 1-1 1/2 minutes pass, Ian prompt appears saying:
a script has caused an error do I want it to continue or end?
I discovered that If I choose, 'to end'...then I am kicked off the web and I am staring at my desk top.

I later discovered that, if I choose 'continue', then within seconds the prompt disappears and the mouse and keyboard respond again.
Shaba this has me baffled! what is happening?
should I be alarmed?
Will I have to live with this or can something be done?

I linked to NoScript homepage, it is Firefox addon :)

It looks like to me that windows installation might be corrupted.

Are you able to uninstall any program?

Hi Shaba,
So if I understand correctly, when you wrote:
"I linked to NoScript homepage, it is Firefox addon"

A) I am interpreting that then to mean: NoScript is a Fire fox addon.....correct?

B) I am interpreting then , that U want me to include this NoScript addon, to my fire fox browser....correct?

C) if I am still in the mud/ unclear please attempt again to get across to me. ...for I would greatly appreciate it. :)

SHaba , I can image this is frustrating at times attempting to get me to understand...I apologize, I am frustrated at myself for not understanding. ...but please continue your efforts, I appreciate your help greatly! :)

SHaba , I do not know if I can uninstall a program with there being no hang ups.....I do know how to. But waht to uninstall is my question for you :)
To help, I have attached a screen shot of Add or remove programs from my computer we are working with. I hope it helps.
I have several screen-shots so that you can see the entire list. I hope i can get them all posted here. look for postings titled screen shot of Add or remove programs, view 1 - 4

And, while your looking please list for me programs you think or know I don't need....because this would help my computer , I am sure.

Hi Shaba,
Maybe I have not completed a step you instructed me to, and that is why I cannot install these programs you want me to.

So let me ask you:

A) should I have SpybotS&D still running in the back ground? ...could this be probable cause? ...or should I exit the program? .......... FYI, regularly, SpybotS&D shows me a balloon saying it is scanning new processes, .. I wonder each time, just what processes is it scanning?

B) Should I scan disc the C drive now? ( FYI, I do this once every 2 weeks normally)

C) Should I defrag the c drive ..now? ( FYI, I normally do, twice a month )

D) I have attached screen shots of my Task manager, so that perhaps your looking at the list will clue you to something.....and while your looking, would you mind looking for problems or items that you know I could do with out....because there are so many listed!..., and I do not know why there are so many!.....and I read some months back that, the more items listed in task manager the slower ones computer will be...Shaba is that correct?

In order to send you the entire list, I have labeled the screen shots View 1 and view 2 :)

Shaba,
Do you need to look at the log created by Java RA?
I will gladly post it here..... to do so, first, I need you to instruct me as to where it was placed on my computer?

I 'll need step by step directions. :)

in case these postings get confusing and which to answer first second and then thirdly, etc......FYI, This is my latest reply to day, now I wait for you. :)...i hope I am not adding to any confusion

Shaba
2009-09-16, 21:06
No, I just asked if you had it installed. It is good one to have installed, that is true.

You can try to uninstall for example Adobe Reader.

A) It is your choice. It can confuse sometimes.

B) No.

c) No.

D) That is true that having many startup programs will slow down computer.

No need to post that log :)

As your issues don't seem to be malware related anymore, is it OK to redirect you to some windows forum?

flywelder
2009-09-17, 06:28
Oh..... I was not sure if they were related or not, now I know.....OK, then Shaba.

Thank you for your time, and assistance, you have spent a great amount of time with me, and have helped tremendously, I really appreciate this:thanks:

Will you direct me to the correct windows forum for my needs please?......don't leave me to find the right one on my own, it will not happen.
Thank you Shaba, very nice working with you, I have never been to Finland, only seeing it threw TV... and TV has me intrigued to some day visit such a pretty and exciting Country. :bigthumb:

Take care Shaba!
