We have a Dell Dimension E510. We currently run Webroot Internet Security Essentials on it and have installed all updates.

Two days ago, the computer started giving us this message "The application or DLL (insert program file name) is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

This code shows up before the sign-in name even appears. We click OK to get through the two different codes and it comes to the log on to windows page. When you log on, nothing comes up but multiple versions of this same error code with the different program names. The start panel does not open, none of the programs show up on the screen, nothing happens except for error codes. We suspect a virus, due to our 5 year old messing with the computer. We had started locking the computer but due to human error, we missed a few times and it was in those times he got a hold of it. We do not know what he opened up or accepted.

Hi there,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/dds) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log in your reply.
