Hiya guys!!

So, I've done a search on Google (and the forums) about apply passive-immunization on Firefox Portable (any version). I myself was interested because I use a Firefox Portable on a home desktop since I use an optimized version with a bunch of profile/ preferences customizations, along with the fact that my Firefox installs are multiplatform.

On the forums, its been noted that you can't do this since FF Portable doesn't install locally.

But, luckily, since Spyware Blaster's protection has parallels to Spybot's immunization, I also searched there. This is what I found:: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=201990

How to:
1. Create the following folder:
Documents and Settings\(Your user)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox

2. Create new text file with the following:

[General]
StartWithLastProfile=1

[Profile0]
Name=Default
IsRelative=0
Path=C:\Tamed\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile
Default=1

(Path is mine, you modify according to where your portable is)

Save text file as profiles.ini in the folder you created - D:\Documents and Settings\(Your user)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox

Now start SWB again

This tip is copied from dmiranda in http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=674152&postcount=15and for Vista users:: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1346180&postcount=5

Under Windows Vista, the path you will want to use will be something like the following:

C:\Users\(Your User)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

By default the AppData folder is hidden, so you may have to enter the path manually in Windows Explorer to access it (or enable viewing of hidden files/folders).And... it works!! As far as I can see, Spybot AND Spyware Blaster were able to see the Portable FF profile and apply immunization/ protection without problems.

Thanks for your time, and remember to browse safely ;) !!

(For those interested, the optimized Firefox I use is one of Pigfoot's builds, http://weblog.pigfoot.org/pigfoot/ , and I am able to backup my profile to different platforms and computers via FEBE, http://customsoftwareconsult.com/extensions/febe/febe.html )
