Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/dds) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log in your reply.

Hello again,

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer to make sure it won't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
select
Advanced Mode

On the left hand side, click on Tools
Then click on the Resident icon in the list
Uncheck
Resident TeaTimer
and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html)
Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New dds.txt log.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Hello again. Thank you very much for the help and support!

I stopped Spybot's resident protection, restarted, disabled ZoneAlarm, stopped Avast on-access proteciton and run ComboFix. It did about 50 tests, deleted setup.ini somewhere in Windows directory, and restarted the machine. After restart it continued to do it's work, but naturally ZoneAlarm and Avast were running. Soon PEV.cfxxe requested permission to access the internet. I allowed it, thinking that it is part of the diagnose/repair tools residing in C:\ComboFix\

After finalizing ComboFix I turned on Spybot's resident protection, and it asked me various things about changing important registry values, here are the results (I denied only Search assistant):

17.09.2009 10:14:08 Allowed (based on user decision) value "SpybotSD TeaTimer" (new data: "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe") added in System Startup user entry!
17.09.2009 10:14:09 Allowed (based on lassh blacklist) value "CTFMON.EXE" (new data: "") deleted in System Startup user entry!
17.09.2009 10:14:16 Allowed (based on user decision) value "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" (new data: "323") changed in System Startup user entry!
17.09.2009 10:14:17 Allowed (based on user decision) value "NoDriveAutoRun" (new data: "67108863") added in System Startup user entry!
17.09.2009 10:14:20 Allowed (based on user decision) value "NoDrives" (new data: "0") added in System Startup user entry!
17.09.2009 10:14:20 Allowed (based on lassh blacklist) value "Alcmtr" (new data: "") deleted in System Startup global entry!
17.09.2009 10:14:20 Allowed (based on lassh blacklist) value "KernelFaultCheck" (new data: "") deleted in System Startup global entry!
17.09.2009 10:14:34 Denied (based on user decision) value "SearchAssistant" (new data: "") deleted in Browser page!
17.09.2009 10:14:38 Allowed (based on user decision) value "AutoRun" (new data: "") deleted in Command processor!
17.09.2009 10:14:40 Allowed (based on user decision) value "load" (new data: "") deleted in NT startup!
17.09.2009 10:14:47 Allowed (based on user decision) value "scrnsave.exe" (new data: "") deleted in Desktop settings!
17.09.2009 10:14:49 Allowed (based on user decision) value "DisableRegistryTools" (new data: "0") added in Disable Registrytool!

Is there somehting wrong with these, should I be concerned, or they are normal? Of not, what am I supposed to do?

Also, when I started Mozilla Firefox browser, suprisingly it was not the default one, so I made it.

Anyway, here is the report:

After finalizing ComboFix I turned on Spybot's resident protection
You should had waited until cleaning process is finished before re-enabling TeaTimer, as told in my previous post ;)

Anyway, what I wonder is did ComboFix ask you to install recovery console? Also, I need to see a fresh dds.txt log.

Sorry. My bad jumping the gun like that, I thought ComboFix was the final step.

And it did not ask me to install recovery console.

Again I disabled resident protection before running dds and restarted. ZoneAlarm and Avast! home edition were running.

Here is the DDS.txt (since you did not ask, i am not posting Attach.txt):

Hi,

Open notepad and then copy and paste the bolded lines below into it. Go to File > save as and name the file fixes.bat, change the Save as type to all files and save it to your desktop.
@echo off
type c:\boot.ini >c:\logit.txt
start c:\logit.txt
del %0

Double-click on fixes.bat file to execute it. Notepad with logit.txt file contents should open up. Post it back here, please.

I was just wondering, why to use such method, insted of telling me "Please, post here the contents of your boot.ini file?" ;)

Here is the result:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Boot.ini is hidden by default, so that saves me from asking to make hidden files visible :)

Please run ComboFix again (let it update itself & install recovery console if offered) and post back its report.
