Ive been following these forums for a while and have seen some great input, but i would love some help on analyzing my own system as i know i have some pretty bad issues. I'd rather not format, but im almost sure its all that will work.

An updated Hijackthis log. processes seem to be duplicating the longer i leave the computer on.

Hi ekfight

I have some very bad news for you.

You have virut which is file infector and able to infect for example all .exe files.

Virut is buggy so disinfection fails.

Only sensible solution is to backup and reformat. You can't backup these: .exe, .rar., .scr, .htm., .html, .php and .asp. It can also infect. .pdf, .doc. and .jpg so better not to backup them either.

If you need help with reformatting, let me know.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking. I have everything already on disc before the infection, so tis not a problem.
Ive tried to format my hard drive, but I only have this 1 drive and my xp pro disc doesnt give me the option for a destructive recovery or format.

tried the ole C:\format C:\ but nothin happens.
I've formatted before but it was on my xp home cd which had destructive recovery... not sure how to do it here.

This (http://helpdesk.its.uiowa.edu/windows/instructions/reformat.htm) should help here.
