Hi,
I think my PC has been hijacked and I'm hoping someone on this site can help. I can't open Malwarebytes or Spybot (error message says file is missing or I do not have access), and now all the desktop icons are missing as well as the task menu bar and system tray. Internet explorer was also extremely slow prior to everything disappearing, and I kept seeing sites pop up in my history that I had never visited, almost like someone was using my computer remotely. The only way I can execute programs is to bring up the Task Manager and select Run Program from location. I'm extremely frustrated and stumped as to how to fix/remove the infection
Here's a history of what I've done so far. I apologize in advance because I've already tried a few things before luckily finding this site. I did read the disclaimer and understand that I need to follow instruction precisely for this to be fixed.
I first started in safe mode and ran a full Symantec Antivirus scan. Then I saw a post on another site that said to run the program Combo-Fix. I did that and it deleted a bunch of files and quarantined them, but I still have the issue. I then tried to run Malwarebytes and I still get the error and everything's still missing. Also, I cannot disable Symantec Antivirus because the system tray is missing

Once again I apologize for running these programs. I have some computer knowledge but obviously not a lot when it comes to Malware.
I do have a work laptop that is clean. Hopefully that will help make fixing this issue easier. Also, I have a Dell 4500s or something with Windows XP Professional edition. I have Symantec Antivirus corporate edition running.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you very much in advance!

Kevin
