Hi,

I saw all the trusted zone sites that where insurance related, just wanted to make sure.

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {5b76f6df-4c47-4d97-a0d5-3e3cb357d90a} - C:\WINDOWS\mark_32.dll

Download TFC (http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/TFC.exe) to your desktop

Close any open windows.
Double click the TFC icon to run the program
TFC will close all open programs itself in order to run,
Click the Start button to begin the process.
Allow TFC to run uninterrupted.
The program should not take long to finish it's job
Once its finished it should automatically reboot your machine,
if it doesn't, manually reboot to ensure a complete clean

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) or Here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html)

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
http://forums.whatthetech.com/post_a4255_MBAM.PNG
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.
Post the report and also a new HJT log please

Good Morning,

Remove these with HJT.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {5b76f6df-4c47-4d97-a0d5-3e3cb357d90a} - (no file)

Lets look a bit deeper because Malwarebytes removed an entry for DeepDive and I want to make sure there is no more of it.

Two things, first run this scan and then run DDS and post both logs please.

Please run this free online virus scanner from ESET (http://www.eset.eu/online-scanner)

Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
Click Start
When asked, allow the activex control to install
Click Start
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is ticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
Click Scan
Wait for the scan to finish
Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic

Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.

DDS.com (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/dds)
DDS.scr (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr)
DDS.pif (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds)

Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
Notepad will open with the results, click no to the Optional_Scan
Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control Here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html)

Okay, I have tried to run ESET twice, and it keeps hanging up. It did find several files the first time I tried it, but it was only about 10% finished. Do I need to keep trying to run it?

Here is the log from the first time:

Good Morning,

ESET found and removed junk by Trymedia . There maybe more. Try this other scanner.

Please run this free online virus scanner from Kaspersky (http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner)

Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer.
This will start the program and scan your system.
The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run. (At times it may appear to stall)
Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.

Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.

Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report To obtain the report:
Click on: Save Report As
Next, in the Save as prompt, Save in area, select: Desktop
In the File name area, use KScan, or something similar In Save as type, click the drop arrow and select: Text file [*.txt]
Then, click: Save
Please post the Kaspersky Online Scanner Report in your reply.

Hi,

Not to much to worry about here, most of what Kaspersky found where backups of what SDFix and Combofix removed, there where a few other items that need to be removed.

iWinGames <--This is really not malicious but sometimes bundles other programs with it that can be considered ADWARE, its also running as a windows service which means its using system resources. I would recommend uninstalling via the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel

Delete these

C:\Documents and Settings\Brad\My Documents\AOL Downloads\kill2me.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\Gaines\My Documents\My Pictures\Image_03.com

C:\SDFix\backups <--Delete everything inside this folder

The rest of your log looks fine, how are things running now ?

I deleted all of those files. I am hesitant to delete Iwingames because we do play one of those games all of the time. I think that I had found a way to delete the Iwingames software and play our favorite game, though, and I am going to try and find those instructions.

Everything seems to be running fine and fast on this computer now.

However, some type of malware has resurrected itself on my other computer, so I am going to have to post an HJT log and Kasperky Scan for that computer.

If you don't see anything else that I need to do for this problem, I think that we are ready to close this thread.

Many thanks for your help!

Glad things are running well. It gets really confusing trying to fix more than one computer in a thread, so do this. I will close this thread and you start a new topic for the other computer and name the topic My Other Computer. I am done for the night, between work and the forums its been a long day. I will look for your post tomorrow and if I miss it we have an excellent staff and one of us will pick it up. What I would do is to post a DDS log and we can go from there.

How did I get infected in the first place ?
Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.
Tutorial for System Restore (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial56.html) <-- Do this first to prevent yourself from being reinfected.
WhattheTech (http://forums.whatthetech.com/So_how_did_I_get_infected_in_the_first_place_t57817.html)
Grinler BleepingComputer (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic2520.html)
GeeksTo Go (http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index.php?autocom=custom&page=How_did_I)
Dslreports (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10002)

Keep in mind if you install some of these programs. Only ONE Anti Virus and only ONE Firewall is recommended, more is overkill and can cause you problems. You can install all the Spyware programs I have listed without any problems. If you install Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard, they will conflict with the TeaTimer in Spybot , you can still install Spybot Search and Destroy but do not enable the TeaTimer .

Here are some free programs to install, all free and highly regarded by the fine people in the Malware Removal Community

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy.

Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed. No scan to run, just update about once a week and enable all protection.

Spyware Guard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts, again, no scan to run, just install it and let it do its thing.

IE-Spyad (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23332-order,1-page,1-c,antispywaretools/description.html)
IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

Firefox 3 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

Safe Surfn
Ken

Hi Ken:

This computer is running fine now, so you can close this thread.
I did start another thread for my other computer. It would be much appreciated if you could take a look at it.

Thanks again!
