Hi RoniSutton

You should allow them.

We will continue with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:
This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
If you need help to disable your protection programs see here. (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html)

When finished, it will produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

File::
c:\windows\system32\geyanuva.dll
c:\windows\system32\zotapugi.dll
c:\windows\system32\yolopusu.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\mejunewa.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\wahewuvu.dll.tmp

Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

I have followed your instructions. I really appreciate your time and help. I have a few questions, please. When you read these logs, what are you seeing? When you have me run ComboFix, what is it really doing? Finally, every time I reboot my machine, Spybot runs a scan which takes over two hours. When I began these instructions and dragged the code into ComboFix, Spybot started up. I had to cntrl-alt-delete to get it to stop. Clicking on the stop button did no good. Is this normal?

Logs list recently created files/folders and typical malware loading points.

Combofix removes malware :)

That is due to TeaTimer. Did you have problems disabling it? I still see it running.

RoniSutton
2009-09-24, 12:18
Yes, I've clicked in the box you told me to in Spybot S&D Advanced, but every time I reboot, teatimer comes back on in my system tray. Then it and windows defender have an argument until I can get it turned off. I'm toying with the idea of un-installing Spybot and then reinstalling it without teatimer. I've looked in my startup files folder and it is empty, so I'm not sure where in the computer it's getting loadedd. Let me know if that's a good or bad idea and then we can move onwards and upwards. By the way, the pop ups are still happening, but my machine is working more efficiently now. I do believe the pop up program is resident to my computer because they are 'weird' looking popups. The windows are an odd size, with a strange looking border and they are directly related to whatever website I am visiting. If I go to Lowes (a home improvement store) I get a pop up for a lumber company. When I go to Spybot, I get a pop up for Registry cleaners etc.

Please then uninstall spybot and reinstall it without teatimer.

Rerun combofix and post back fresh log, please.

After I uninstalled and re-installed Spybot without Teatimer, I simply ran ComboFix. I didn't drag the txt file this time. If I should do it that way, let me know.

Please go to Kaspersky website (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html) and perform an online antivirus scan.

Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button: Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
Archives
Click on My Computer under Scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

if I'm not supposed to post before I have completed your instructions, just let me know and I won't do it again. I just wanted to update you on why this is taking so long.

I have satellite internet and it was pouring rain yesterday. Everytime Kaspersky would start downloading files, I would lose my connection and it would have to start over. I FINALLY got it downloaded this morning and started a scan. However, it is 1% finished and that one percent took 6 hours. So, I estimate (assuming I don't lose the connection) that it will be 10 hours before the scan is through. Sorry for the delay. I'll post both logs as soon as I can get them.

not six hours

Yes that is normal and is related to amount of files you have :)

It can take hours.

Is this what you wanted me to do?

Shaba
2009-09-28, 05:44
Yes it is :)

Do you recognize that file?

RoniSutton
2009-09-28, 12:09
But I suspect it was either a setup file for PeoplePC or Wildblue. PeoplePC was the dial up internet service provider I had a long time ago and Wildblue is my ISP now.

What about the files that Kapersky identified? Have we gotten rid of them?

Shaba
2009-09-28, 12:50
Then it is likely false positive.

Empty Deleted Items in Outlook account and delete every suspicious email from Inbox.

Still problems?

RoniSutton
2009-09-28, 13:03
I have deleted all of the files out of my deleted folder, but it will take me awhile on the inbox. I have to get my kids up and start the morning mayhem and then it's off to school. I'll work on this when I get home this afternoon.

I have not seen that weird pop up for a couple of days, so something we've done has helped.

I am not sure what a suspicious email looks like, but I will delete everything I don't recognize - though I generally do that without opening it anyway.

I'll let you know this afternoon what I find.

Shaba
2009-09-28, 16:28
We live in different time zone, I presume :)

No hurry, take your time.

RoniSutton
2009-09-29, 00:52
And I have looked at all the emails back to July. I don't see anything suspicious at all. My deleted file is empty. I am no longer having issues with the popups, but sometimes the computer still seems to get stuck - like it's doing something while I am on the internet. It sits for 20 or so seconds and then starts going again. Any other scans or fixes we should run?

Shaba
2009-09-29, 08:07
How much RAM you have?

RoniSutton
2009-09-29, 12:12
The computer is fairly old, though, at least three years. I have a 35 gb hard drive with a little over 5 gb free. I started getting disk full errors and did a compression and deleted a bunch of old junk right before I first started posting here.

Shaba
2009-09-29, 14:28
So that might be then the reason.

You need likely bigger hard drive.

RoniSutton
2009-09-29, 22:32
I think that might happen around Christmas :present: Meanwhile, do you think we got everything else? Any other scans or logs you think I should run? Thank you again for all of your help.

Shaba
2009-09-30, 07:42
No unless you have some issues left? :)
