I am attempting to recover my brother-in-law's computer. It has been infected with Police Pro. It is a Dell XPS 400 running Windows XP SP3.
At first I couldn't run ANY executables, but after changing the exe registry entry (which was previously set to desote something or another) back to the correct setting, I have been able to run everything except any type of anti-virus tool.
I have tried:
SuperAntiSpyware
Kaspersky Online Scanner
Spybot
Hijackthis
Malware Bytes
Even in Safe Mode I cannot run any of these tools. :hair:
Is there something else I can run to get rid of this thing?? I've tried some manual techniques I found on the web. Each seems to get me a little closer to being able to run something useful, but still can't run any anti-virus/anti-malware software.
