Thank you. May I suggest adding that link to the FAQ?

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/11.html

It seems rather strange that links to somebody else's software is there --- but the the link to the "core" item is not ----

Hello. :)

I added:
Is it possible to run Spybot-S&D under Windows 95? (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/11.html)
Link to old version of Spybot-S&D 1.3 for Win95 (http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=spybot)
Also see:
End of support for Windows 98/ME; will Spybot follow suit? ( http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4497)

Of course Win95 is older. ;)

Yea, this particular Win95 machine has been taken off-line to continue doing data base and newsletter stuff (a WinXP machine has taken its place on-line). But it does need cleanup anyway --- Gator, WeatherBug, and others are in there. :spider:

Anyway -- thanks sooooo much for your help.

Hello.

That makes sense. :bigthumb:

If you need help with the infections on the machine please do the following and one of us will take a look.

Open SpyBot, check for and get any updates available.
Close all browsers, check for problems and fix everything found in red
Then on the toolbar menu select mode and switch to advanced mode, on the left lower down select tools, and view report.
Select (near the top) view report.
Press export in the save in box choose a place such as your my documents folder, then in your next post near the bottom select the "browse" button; navigate to and attach or post that report.

Cheers.

ElderJ, any chance you might want to upgrade your Win95 machine to Win98 or even Win98se? Win98se seems to be the most stable of the 9x editions of Windows and is less likely to have those "blue screen" crashes.

90- some - odd "bad guys" cleaned out. The major symptom was sluggishness.

The system is working well for the database/newsletter job. They now have time to explore alternatives for migrating that job to the newer machine.

And yes, we did talk of re-installing the OS and/or upgrading --- but decided against it.

BTW ElderJ, what version of Win95 are you and your folks are you using?
right-click on the My Computer icon and choose Properties. also see Microsoft
KB article 158238 on checking the version of Win95 used:
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/158238

versions 4.00.950 B & C [osr2] are more stable than the original in SR1 editions of Win95.

ElderJ, there is an updated spybotsd.exe file for Spybot 1.4 that will make it work
under Win95. you can get it here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/files/temp/sbsd141pefix.zip
open the zip file, extract the updated spybotsd.exe file onto the \Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\ folder and overwrite the existing version of spybotsd.exe with the new one.
