Hi bob addo

Are both Norton and AVG up-to-date?

Hi Shaba

Thank you for helping me. My AVG and Norton are up to date. However my Spybot is 1.5.2 instead of the latest 1.6.2. The definitions are up to date. I have not had any recent messages regarding trogans from AVG or Nortons when I scan. I get Virtumonde.Dll found from Spybot. Should I upgrade my Spybot and do a new scan?

thank you again

Shaba

Then you should update Spybot and uninstall either AVG or Norton as only one antivirus should be used.

After that, please post back a fresh HijackThis log and spybot report :)

Hi Shaba

Please see attached new HJTL and Spybot Report. I removed Norton, updated Spybot, ran Spybot and AVG. Both report no threats now. AVG reported a Trogan Horse Downloader BanLoad AP10 which it removed to the virus vault. Thank you for your help.

Download at your desktop DDS from one of the links below:

Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds)

Double click the tool to run it.
A black Screen will open, just read the contents and do nothing.
When the tool finish it will open 2 reports.
Copy/paste both reports back here and remove DDS from your desktop.

Hi Shaba

Please confirm that you want me to post both files. Instructions from DDS say
"#DDS.txt Post this to forums but #Attach.txt must be zipped (not posted) to your forum post."

Thank you

Shaba

Please go to Kaspersky website (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html) and perform an online antivirus scan.

Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button: Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
Archives
Click on My Computer under Scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi Shaba

I had problems downloading the Karpersky program and definitions.

1. It asked me to turn off my anti virus software.
2. After starting to down the program it told me to delete recently added programs in Safe Mode and restart. It then shut down the computer.
3. I turned off Spybot’s Tea Timer and restarted the computer in normal mode.
4. It loaded the program and started downloading the definitions. It said that 73Mb of definitions needed to be downloaded. (Taking about 5 hours on my computer). After downloading 65 Mb of definitions, it then said I needed to download a total of 135 Mb of definitions. I then turned the computer off.
5 Is there another way of checking the computer?
6. I will remove programs I do not need.
7. Safe Mode is not an area I am familiar or comfortable with. Is it better to remove programs in this mode?

Thank you. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yes it might require a lot of downloading.

You can try this instead:

Go here (http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/) to run an online scannner from ESET.
Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
Click Start
When asked, allow the activex control to install
Click Start
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked and the Scan Archives option is ticked
Click on Advanced Settings, ensure the options Scan for potentially unwanted applications, Scan for potentially unsafe applications, and Enable Anti-Stealth Technology are ticked
Click Scan
Wait for the scan to finish
Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\Eset\Eset Online Scanner\log.txt
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic
