Hi Dan, I have a problem with scanning your HJT log. You have Word Wrap turned on in notepad. I need you to click on Format and uncheck "Word Wrap", then post a new HJT log. That log will be single spaced. When you post that new log, also post the results of this:
Thanks to S!Ri, Trevuren and any others who helped with the fix.
Please download SmitfraudFix (http://www.geekstogo.com/modules.php?modid=5&action=download&id=80) (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other option until you are directed to do so!
Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm (http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm)
As a second note, one or more of your downloaded program files were placed there by hackers from the Ukraine, see this:

http://whois.domaintools.com/85.255.113.214 <<< view this link
I strongly suggest you keep this computer offline to deny these hackers access until we get it clean.
Thanks...pskelley

Thanks for returning that information. As you can see you have a nasty Smitfraud infection. We will clean it up first, then see what is left. I will not need the ActiveScan logs unless I should ask for one later to see if it is clean, thanks.
Instructions start here:
Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.
A. Please download the trial version of Ewido anti-malware from here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install Ewido anti-malware.
When installing, under Additional Options uncheck Install background guard and Install scan via context menu.
When you run Ewido for the first time, you could get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click Ok.
The program will prompt you to update. Click the Ok button.
The program will now go to the main screen.
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left-hand side of the main screen click the Update Button.
Click on Start.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once finished updating, close Ewido.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
Ewido manual updates (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/). Make sure to close Ewido before installing the update.
B. Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Login on your usual account.
______________________________
C. Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.
The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.
______________________________
D. Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:
Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
Click OK.
Next Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Display. Click on the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button. Click on the Web tab. Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button. Click Ok then Apply and Ok.
Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.
______________________________
E. Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
Click on Scanner
Click on Settings
Under How to scan all boxes should be checked
Under Unwanted Software all boxes should be checked
Under What to scan select Scan every file
Click on Ok
Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
Let the program scan the machine.
If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says Perform action on all infections and put a checkmark in the box next to Create encrypted backup, then choose clean and click Ok.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
Click Save Report button
Save the report to your Desktop
Close Ewido and Reboot in Normal Mode.
______________________________
F. Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
______________________________
G. Please post:
c:\rapport.txt
Ewido log
A new HijackThis log
You may need several replies to post the requested logs, otherwise they might get cut off.

Thanks for returning the information and the feedback. I do not believe Winfixer is related to Smitfraud and we still have work to do.
This first item, my scanner is showing a problem with it but I doubt that is the case. I would like you to use one or more of the free online scanners just to be sure the program has not been infected:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [outlook] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE /auto
http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Use one or more and upload to the site the complete pathway I have highlited in red then post the results for me to view.
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

as for the online virus scans for the outlook file, i did all three and the all said it was ok.
i could not find the file gdnUS2338.exe, so i did not delete it.
i ran the ccleaner and deleted everything. i then ran it again to be safe and the file C:documen~1\dan\locals~1\tempIadhide4.dll kept coming up. so i ran it again and again. still comes up. is that ok?
last but not least i got a pop-up from, stopzilla, the shield and winantispyware while doing all of the steps you gave me.
i hope this is everything you need. and i really apreciate you helping me with this stuff, sorry it took me so long to relpy i had band practice(going into the studio sunday, not that you care, but what the hell) -dan

Hi Dan, thanks for returning your information. This question:
i then ran it again to be safe and the file C:documen~1\dan\locals~1\tempIadhide4.dll kept coming up. so i ran it again and again. still comes up. is that ok?I believe you left the slash out after temp? That item could well be a problem and all temp items can be deleted. Here is that complete pathway:
C:\Documents & Settings\Local Setting\Temp\ <<< delete all of the contents of that folder. Use safe mode if you have to and be especially sure: Iadhide4.dll <<< this is deleted.
While you are in that folder your will see a folder "Temporary Internet Files" open it and delete the contents. DO NOT delete the two folders, just the contents.
This line is a nasty:

It was schedule for removal in my last instructions and is still there. It must go, use HJT again and check then remove it. Make sure all windows and programs are closed. If you have a problem with removing it, try this:
Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > General tab. In the Temporary Internet Files area click on "Settings" then "View Objects" Locate Highlite and Delete that item.
The Wixfixer popups make me think we may have another problem, but until I have a clean log, I can't be sure these issues are not being caused by the stuff listed above. Complete those instructions, then do this:
Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
Post those contents along with a new HJT log and your comments that you think will help.
Thanks...Phil
first sorry about the delay in the reply, and again i apreciate you helping me. first off when ever i click save in the hjt uninstall program list it just goes away, never asking me where to save it to. what should i do?
here is the HJT

I went back and looked, and this was one severely infected computer, let's do this.
Disable Ewido real time Protection: From within Ewido -
Under 'Your security status', if the real time protection is active, deactivate it by clicking 'real time protection' until the status says 'inactive'.
Meanwhile please print out the following instructions as this page will be unavailable to you while you are working in Safe Mode, and you should have all windows and folders closed as well.
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1CBC5874-938B-47B8-876C-D3DBB3F78D9F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvu.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winexz32 - winexz32.dll (file missing)
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
Restart the computer...

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (If available otherwise Standard)
Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.
Post that Kaspersky and a new HJT log. Let me know how the computer is running.
Thanks...

That's good to hear, Kaspersky is a mess, I will do my best, much is in Norton Quarantine. Looking at it now.
I have not seen items with Kaspersky coded like this: Object is locked skipped I would like you to run it again, I will post new directions, make sure you have all files and folders enabled in case hidden files is causing that.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.
1) C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Users\Dan\Data\cache.dat Object is locked skipped
Logitech Desktop Messenger which gets installed along with another Logitech program because the EULA agreement is not read. Unless you know what it is and use it, it is a resource waster and can be removed in Add Remove programs, but make sure you uninstall only what I highlite in red, this is optional:
C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\ <<< uninstall only the program in red.
If you uninstall the Desktop Messenger I think that will get rid of those items.
2) C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\ <<< you need to navigate to that quarantine folder and delete the contents, not the folder.
3) C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT\ <<< norton recycle bin, navigate to it and delete the contents.
Emptying the Norton Protected Recycle Bin

4) Follow these instructions to clean out the system restore files:
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Reboot.
3. Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
5) Make sure everything above is done before you do this:
Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
Then post it here.
6) HJT still looks ok. I will not need another HJT log unless I ask for one, but do post the Kaspersky results, make sure you follow those setup instruction, I ran a Kaspersky on my computer today and did not receive any of those "Object is locked skipped" messages? Do you have any idea what might be causing that? Norton?
Thanks...Phil
i did all of the steps you said to do. here is the new scan.

OK Dan, some of this stuff was in the instructions, Kaspersky is showing:
Number of viruses found 2
Number of infected objects 7 / 0
I will try to point you at those items:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Quarantine\ <<< empty this folder
I suggested you empty that quarantine folder, it is still there.
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-3790564803-747936534-3375207800-1005\Dc1495.exe Infected: Worm.Win32.VB.an skipped
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-3790564803-747936534-3375207800-1005\Dc1496.exe Infected: Worm.Win32.VB.an skipped
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-3790564803-747936534-3375207800-1005\Dc1497.exe Infected: Worm.Win32.VB.an skipped
This is your recycle bin, empty it.
Object is locked skipped <<< the others have this and I can think of nothing but the Norton program blocking us from them. I will have to say if the computer is running ok, leave them.
They do not look bad, for some reason Kaspersky can not scan them.
Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
