Trying to fix a friends PC.
Symptoms.
Internet explorer (ie.exe) seems to turn to an msdos type of file when you look at it's properties. I think maybe the virus has injected itself into ie.exe and the AV is stopping ie.exe from running.
No AV software will run, getting errors with mcafee, AVG, sypbot etc... they install but don't run.
Tried hijack this PORTABLE run but then closed right away.
Tried combofix, it ran and found a "rootkit" said it needed to restart to fix problem, i did, and then it just found the rootkit again and said needed to restart, so hence just going round in loop.
So basically how do you remove a virus if you can't run any AV/spyware software.
Is there an advanced way of working out what the virus is so that i can google it.
