Hello everyone!

(This appeared to be the most appropriate forum for this post)

I am currently awaiting help in the malware removal forum; however, I am at university and the work is coming in thick and fast, so, I am considering borrowing some money and getting a second PC - been stuck 3 days now with lots of work building up.

It is just a thought, but, the virus my PC has couldn't be transfered to a new PC through the cable modem connection could it please?

Either, if I were to connect another PC at the same time or one after the other?

Thanks,

dan.

Yes it is possible for certain types of malware to spread on a local LAN behind a router. Worms come to mind. Malware can also be spread from one compromised machine to another via USB flash drives. Its possible under the right circumstances for some malware to even change the settings on a router.

One last question please.

So, is there any advice that I should be aware of, like: don't run another PC from the same modem or router that you got the virus through?

Or, do not connect another PC at the same time or use another PC at all through this modem - even after power off?

I know you are really busy; but, perhaps you might be kind enough to add a footnote response when you reply to my log in the in the Malware Removal forum?

What goes around comes around; you will no doubt be heading straight to heaven!

Hi danib,

You can ask shelf life that question in your malware forum topic which he responded to, just so things don't get confusing. :)
