Hello all,
After running Spybot check and finding several malware identified I ran "Fix these problems" There was one "Trojan" identified, the rest were trackers (I can;t recall all the names).
One (or more) could not be removed and I was requested to Restart (Windows XP ) to remove them.
I restarted.
THe computer now continues on a "loop" of rebooting:-
First the BIOS screen (this seems OK, I can get in and edit anything - haven't changed anything),
then the windows screen appears...
then reboots...then reboots...then reboots (I could go on - but you get the idea!).
I can power-down mid-reboot, switch on and (sometimes) get the screen options for :-
SAFE MODE
SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
SAFE MODE WITH DOS
and
START AT LAST KNOWN WORKING DATE (or similar wording)
and
START WINDOWS NORMALLY.
I have tried all these options, several times, but none of them solve the problem.
WHen selecting any option and then ENTER, there is a list of drivers one by one on the screen, then the screen locks when it finds "...BTHidmgs.sys" , then the rebooting starts again.
I have looked on other Forums - one guy managed to remove/disable BTHidmgr.sys but then found that the system hung on a different driver.
At one time I saw CheckDisc running, so I let it run but when finished... off it went again rebooting !
Help!
