Hello all,
After running Spybot check and finding several malware identified I ran "Fix these problems" There was one "Trojan" identified, the rest were trackers (I can;t recall all the names).
One (or more) could not be removed and I was requested to Restart (Windows XP ) to remove them.

I restarted.

THe computer now continues on a "loop" of rebooting:-
First the BIOS screen (this seems OK, I can get in and edit anything - haven't changed anything),
then the windows screen appears...
then reboots...then reboots...then reboots (I could go on - but you get the idea!).
I can power-down mid-reboot, switch on and (sometimes) get the screen options for :-
SAFE MODE
SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
SAFE MODE WITH DOS
and
START AT LAST KNOWN WORKING DATE (or similar wording)
and
START WINDOWS NORMALLY.

I have tried all these options, several times, but none of them solve the problem.
WHen selecting any option and then ENTER, there is a list of drivers one by one on the screen, then the screen locks when it finds "...BTHidmgs.sys" , then the rebooting starts again.
I have looked on other Forums - one guy managed to remove/disable BTHidmgr.sys but then found that the system hung on a different driver.
At one time I saw CheckDisc running, so I let it run but when finished... off it went again rebooting !

Help!

Hello,

Spybot - Search & Destroy can not delete all files. Some files used by Windows are running in the background. If you would delete these files before the application they are involved in your system would be instable. But if you restart your System Spybot - Search & Destroy can find and destroy them, before they are activated. That is the reason why you sometimes have to restart your system after the scan has finished.

Please run a scan in safe mode (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm). That should fix it.

If this does not help Open Spybot in the advanced mode via the menu item mode, go to 'tools'->'System Startup'
Then mark the following entry and remove it: C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe" /autocheck

If this does not help please download a new SpybotSD.exe (http://www.spybotupdates.biz/files/beta/SpybotSD.exe-1.6.3.50.zip#hash(md5:C26CC8BB790A946655E51E52C4247C71) file here.

Also download a new advcheck.dll (http://www.spybotupdates.biz/files/beta/advcheck.dll-1.6.3.17.zip#hash(md5:A3DFA8F88DED4C552F41D635B1542EB6) here.

Move those two files: SpybotSD.exe and advcheck.dll to your program installation folder, and accept to replace the old ones.

Best regards
Sandra
