something terminates spybot

When I open spybot, I can download the updates, but when I start the scan, the program terminates and disappears from the screen (same thing with Malwarebytes). Error message appears with header of "C:\program files\malwarebytes' anti-malware\mbam.exe", and message of "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
This started recently after downloading a video player to access tv programs online. Any connection?
