cannot reach any "Google" site & few others

It began last Monday. Prior to that, everything was fine.

Using either IE8 or Opera, can't access search engine Google, and a few other sites including ANY site with the word "Google" in it. I have been running my searches through Yahoo. Can access numerous anti-virus sites, but not a few other anti-virus sites. Not getting any "pop ups" telling me I am infected, or instructing me to buy a program. Nothing like that.

Trying to restore the system to ANY day fails. Last week, it would happen quickly when I chose a date. Today I was hopeful as it took 15 minutes and ran slowly to the very end, but then blacked out and told me it had failed to restore, please try again. Not.

Ran Spybox, confined a couple of Trojans. Inactivated Spybox, ran some other programs which found cookies, etc., and deleted them, too. Reactivated Spybot, but still have the same issue. Have been at it since 8:30AM today, with no luck.

All other programs seem to run just fine: Wordperfect, Microsoft Outlook, and a couple other programs which are local to our business. I am on a network, but it is only my computer which is misbehaving.

This computer behavior doesn't seem exactly like anyone else's problem, so I made my own post.

Help, anyone? I am leaving work soon, but will log back on around 8:00 AM tomorrow.

but there is no IT department or specialist here, as we are a small, charitable organization (4 or 5 persons, depending on the day) and if I can't fix it on my own, then it simply won't get fixed. Sorry to say, there is no budget for such luxuries as an outcall repair. I can only wish! We buy our own office supplies, software, etc., out of our own pockets. I had hoped I could fix the issue rather than live with it, as not being able to Google for the searches necessary here, and check my e-mail at http:// email. secureserver.net webmail.php is a real pain, but if that is what I must do, then I guess there is no other answer. :slap:
