Since i downloaded the new version of spybot 1.6.2, it has never offered to clean the temporary files folder like the older version did. Under settings, the box to do this is checked and i know there are files in the folder. Does anyone know if the new version should still offer? i have xpsp2 with ie7 Thanks for the help.
Yes,Spybot should still offer to clean the temp folder.I think it was changed to offer to clean temp folders at the beginning of a scan,was the gist I got after skimming this:

Also,there has to be a certain amount of temp files present before Spybot asks,I believe.

thanks for the info zenobia, you are right. i never saw the offer to clean the temp folder 'cause i always do a scheduled scan. i would much rather see the offer when spybot starts, but not have the default set to clean the folder. it seems other users have concerns about this also. maybe when a new version is released, they will consider everyones suggestions and make some changes. thanks again.

by the way, i forgot to ask if u know how many temp files have to be in the folder before spybot will offer to clean them? thanks again
The temp folder has to have a minimum of 100 files before Spybot offers to clean them,by default. :)
