I used to be fairly intelligent when it came to computers ~ but now ... well, I may have done more bad than good in trying to clear the malware on my machine (PC laptop running XP). :/

I don't know if this means anything, but in the beginning, I started off with a 0x00000024 Stop Error ~ the only way to boot at all was into safe mode by escaping during the loading of sptd.sys. Finally, after several hours, I was able to get rid of at least the inital sptd.sys problem, and was finally able to log on here (previously, whatever malware was working at the time blocked this website from my browsers).

I've done my best to uninstall Daemon and Azureus (don't even know where they came from ~ no excuse for having that kind of stuff on there, but still ...) and can't really tell if I was successful.

I've run MalwareBytes and SpyBot S&D (not at the same time, of course) several times ~ each time they say they've "eradicated" Backdoor.Tdss.572, but it keeps showing up.

All of my browsers redirect from Google. However, I can navigate from non-search engines without a redirect ~ though it will open a new window each time.

If you can find it in the kindness of your hearts to help, I would REALLY appreciate it!! And please, I ask for forgiveness in advance for any stupid questions I may have!!

Thank you SO much!!!

PS ~ We had another bad virus about 6 months ago and an IT friend helped us with it ~ that's where FixMebroot and the other malware deletion apps come from.

Thank you so MUCH again!!!

I just realized ~ Roxio (which came pre-installed on our used laptop) has something called "P2P" on it ~ should I uninstall Roxio?

If that's necessary, I'm MORE than happy to do it ... especially if having it breaks the rules here!! Too, if ya'll think this is an entrance for malware!

Again, thank you SO much!! I know that you guys don't *have* to do this and only do this out of the kindness of your hearts!!!!

{{hugs!}}
