Greetings to all...
I have a few questions that I hope can be answered:
1.) Will Spybot 2.0 be compatible with all versions of Windows XP?
2.) Will Spybot 2.0 be compatible with XP while using IE 7 and/or IE 8?
3.) Will there be an Immunization feature in Spybot 2.0?
4.) Will the Immunization features still be available for XP Users?
Why do I ask this? Please bear with me...
Recently, I had a "heated" discussion with one of your members of your Spybot Advisor Team - bitman.
To summarize, his personal feelings were that XP was an "outmoded, outdated, and obsolete" Operating System.
A few highlights:
1.) "Just update to Windows 7 and all your troubles will be taken care of."
2.) "I stopped using most of the blocking features such as Host files and Restricted Sites (Immunize)..."
3.) "I simply don't have the time to manually maintain my security..."
4.) "...newer os versions are less affected by malware."
and a few of my favorites...
5.) "Have fun playing in the dust with Windows XP..."
6.) "...I and the rest of the world have moved on."
While entertaining to read, his responses were not from an on-topic, substantiated point of view (other than from a passive viewing of a Microsoft PR NewsLetter and recent experiences with family) and surely never answered my original questions or opened up a real discussion.
For those who missed out, please review: My Post (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=52966).
Then, I got to thinking to myself - is this guy for real? Was I just "punked" in some way? I mean, who's kidding who here?
I have 30+ years in this business and I've never had to deal with such poppy cock and drool. His answers not only angered me, but also shocked me - to the point where I became concerned.
So, in my spare time I did a little research...
After going through many past posts, it seems that bitman has done this kind of thing before - that is, give false information based on his personal opinions and not based on substantiated facts or evidence.
My concerns are quite simple:
If bitman's "personal opinions" somehow count towards the creation and design of Spybot 2.0 - XP Users will be left behind and stuck out in the cold.
I hope this isn't where Spybot 2.0 is going - case in point:

Now, one could say this graph isn't updated often -

Original posting - a good read! (http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27094-add-windows-sidebar-properties-to-xp-cpl/)
The numbers speak for themselves - I don't have to point out them out, do I? I will point out that XP's Market Share has grown since the release of Windows 7...
I'm sorry guys, no matter how you slice it - it's still very much an XP world!
It will be an XP world for a long time to come - is Spybot 2.0 ready for it?
I am hoping for an interesting discussion here and the answers to my questions - I am not looking for somone's personal feelings that are not revelant or noob comments like: "Just upgrade to Windows 7 and all your troubles will be gone."
Fair enough?
