Having an error with Spybot. Was wondering if this has to do with the Sd-Resident, or Tea timer since there was a update with a newer version of this?
I am using Win 7 64-bit Ultimate.

Any suggestions, comments would help.

This is the event log entry:

Hello,

When do you get this error?
When you open Spybot?
Or when you try to fix found items after a scan?

Best regards

I have the identical error on Win7 x64. Nothing I do causes it; I only rarely run Spybot. Presumably it's related to TeaTimer?

It seems to occur twice a day, each error within a minute or two of the other. So it looks like a scheduled event is trying to run. Whether it succeeds or fails I can't tell.

I'll try running it again and find out if i can narrow it down some. I also had the same problem as Snarl, when I noticed the new update for TeaTimer 1.6.6, the update/installer tried to delete the old file or something; I had a popup, 'Couldnt delete a read-only file'. It would have 2 instances of TeaTimer running ( noticed this while doing the update in the task bar ) then one would stop, presuming it was the older version, by the way of 2 icons showing up and one stopping.

Any ideas?

I searched my systems event log and have 6 instances of the same thing.

Spybot doesn't show the error while running or after fixing whatever shows up after a scan. Its random last 'error' was at 1230 this morning.

I don't recall telling you im using Win 7 x64 Ult RTM.

I have looked up on google that 'Activation context generation' and seem to get a lot of hits on this note all with different applications too.

in spybots' instance its always line 8 within DelZip179.dll.

Any comments?

Did I miss the solution? Sorry... Can someone tell me what it is again? THANKS!

I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

I get this error every few days. I am not using the program when the errors take place. The error happens at 2 different points on the same day.

Another program also gets an error at the same 2 points in the day. This other program is Corel Paint Shop Pro.

These are the errors:

1. Event ID 63 Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll".Error in manifest or policy file "c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll" on line 8. The value "*" of attribute "language" in element "assemblyIdentity" is invalid.

(Today at 12:04:49am & 7:18:19pm)

Corel Paint Shop Pro.

1. Event ID 33 Activation context generation failed for "c:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\X3\PSPClassic\Python Libraries\Lib\distutils\command\wininst-8_d.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

(Today at 12:04:39am & 7:18:08pm)

I do not understand the connection between the two programs.

I see a few others are having the same error with Spybot.

I hate to necro this old post, but I'm getting the same sidebyside error.

Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll".Error in manifest or policy file "c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll" on line 8. The value "*" of attribute "language" in element "assemblyIdentity" is invalid.

But the interesting thing is its always followed a few seconds later by another sidebyside error

Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files (x86)\Creative\audio device selection unicode\CTAudSeu.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "c:\program files (x86)\Creative\audio device selection unicode\CTAudSeu.exe" on line 2. Multiple requestedPrivileges elements are not allowed in manifest.

I recently moved to a new laptop running Win 7 64-Bit and noticed the same error message - but only 1 instance so far.

Activation context generation failed for
"c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll".

Error in manifest or policy file "c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll" on line 8.

The value "*" of attribute "language" in element "assemblyIdentity" is invalid.

I have been having some stability issues with the system that have resulted in blue screens (I am still trying to narrow those down - could be a memory module install problem) so its possible the dll has gotten corrupted.

Thanks for the updated dll. I no longer get sidebyside errors from spybot. But I have a slightly different concern. I no longer detect anything. I would regularly detect doubleclick, fastclick, mediaplex and so on, but now, nothing. So I'm not sure if my spybot is actually working anymore. I use firefox 5 btw.

Hello,

Please run Spybot - Search & Destroy and switch to "Advanced mode" via the menu bar item "Mode" and select "Settings" --> "File Sets" in the left bar. There, please right-click somewhere into the list and choose "select all available checks".
If still nothing is found you have probably activated the resident protection of Spybot - Search & Destroy that is blocking the baddies from getting into your system.

Best regards

I did as instructed. Still no detections. I never activated the immunize feature. After it did the scan, it listed all my programs with tracking stuff in green below (from adobe flash cookies, ms paint, to winzip). Funny thing is Firefox is not on that list.. I use Firefox 5.

I recently installed Spybot S&D on a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate/64-bit, and after a week when going through my Event logs I discovered this exact same error message.

As others have said, I do not have resident protection (Tea Timer or whatever) enabled. Double checked to make sure.

So it is extremely odd and somewhat troubling to me that I have this message every day at the same time: 12:30 AM.

I've checked Windows Task Scheduler and the Windows startup programs and Spybot is not set to run automatically anywhere that I can find.

I'd just about bet real money that this problem is fairly universal, but has not been reported by more people because most people don't make a habit of looking at their Windows Event Log.
