View Full Version : Backdoor Bots

Hello and Help!
I haven't posted on a forum before. I hope I do this correctly. I have backed up my registry with ERUNT.
Short story:
We can't connect via IE and something seems to be blocking the security programs that were already installed on this machine when the problems became evident a few days ago. Already had McAfee and S&D. (Became aware of problem when McAfee notified that it couldn't update and recommended that we reinstall it.)
I was able to download/install Malwarebytes and came up with the results below.
I ran MWB again and it came up clean. However, I still can't install McA and S&D. I've made Firefox my default browser :FF: and updated to IE 8. Strangely, although IE8 downloaded (via FFox) and installed, it cannot connect.
I ran HJT and those results follow the MWB log.

Changes made after Malwarebytes but before HJT: Added MS Security Essentials, Avast, and updated to IE8. Deleted LimeWire.

The Big Question: Is our back door closed or even close-able? Can the backdoor bots read our bank info, etc? :lip:
Thank you!

I'm posting from a different computer.

After first post, I went online with Firefox. MS Security Essential flashed up a warning about two threats--Alureon.F. I removed them, but I got major warnings from my system.
Turned off. Rebooted in Last Good Config. Ran MS Security Scan (with Avast paused).
It found 12 instances of Win32/Alureon.F.
I followed removal instructions, then tried to connect via FF. Now neither FF or IE can find server.
The other computers on same router (such as this one) are connecting fine.

Thank you.

Hi,

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log in your reply.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/dds) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
