View Full Version : Can't remove Trojan:Win32/Daonol.H - Help please :)

Hello,

I've tried uncessfully to fully remove the Trojan:Win32/Daonol.H virus from my dad's system. AVG did not pick it up, but it had symptoms, so tried Microsoft Security Essentials (after removing AVG), which identified the virus. Problem is that the virus keeps appearing again, even when I've followed the manual removal instructions. The file kpefgs.tmp keeps getting re-created in the Local Settings/Temp folder. This is what your up against


Trojan:Win32/Daonol.H is a Windows platform Trojan that surreptitiously runs in the background, while giving a remote attacker access to your PC. Once Trojan:Win32/Daonol.H has penetrated the system, it may also disable the anti-virus software, leaving the PC defenseless. Ensure that you use a reliable security tool to terminate Trojan:Win32/Daonol.H immediately.

With the above in mind what you need to do first is access a known clean computer and change all your passwords for sites that you frequent, especially banking and shopping sites.



Please download Malwarebytes from Here (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php) or Here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html)


Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.
