hello ppl i have had many problems with my pc. i was up till 5am this morning reading ur forum on how to get rid of a problem with a reproducing file called exmodul.exe. f*****g thing.
now my problem now is my norton anti virus it just does not wana let me put on auto protect.
it seems when i try to it throws me a message error code (4002,516)
what do i need to do please help me.

i have tried to run a scan o nmy computer and stuff i have even done all the information on the symntec website and followed all instructions. still no joy. i have a little red x through the icon down in the bottom right corner near the clock.

Close all Browser and Program Windows and have HijackThis fix the following.
Do this by checking the box beside each and then clicking on Fix checked.

Once in safe mode, Click start / then my computer / local disk then follow the process tree.
Or using Windows Explorer, locate the first file right click then select delete.
Delete the following file(s) listed in bold.

Download Ewido Security Suite (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/) it is a trial version of the program.
Install ewido security suite
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click [b]update
Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite and post the results here.
With a new hijackthis log.

Close all Browser and Program Windows and have HijackThis fix the following.
Do this by checking the box beside each and then clicking on Fix checked.

well i ran the HJT program it deleted the two files i think. also i ran the atf cleaner on both main and firfox. and cleared up quite a few bytes. i done it yesterday aswell and it cleared up quite a bit then also. here is my new HJT log see what you can make off it now. cheers .

Download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
first off all i want to oppologise for the delay on me replying. now i have had work and the girlfriend takes up my time as well lol. now. back to my problem.
i downloaded that vundofix program thing and checked the box and stuff and it didnt load back up. so i done a system search and it had saved a file called vundofix in floder c:\documents and settings\hp_owner\recent saying:-

Well not seeing anything now :blush: how is the PC running?
pc is running fine apart from my original problem being the norton ativirus error. now i just tried to turn the auto pretect again. and yet again it says norton antivirus has encountered an internal error.

which i have done and tried several times today. and it is really annoying me. that i cant turn it on. the auto pretect i mean.
i have downloaded ewido 4.0 and downloaded a full version licence code.lol
so i have the full version of that now instead of trial version. i have also downloaded zone alarm which i must say is pretty good and also avira antivirus program. pretty good as well also i downloaded the keys for the program.lol so also full version now. well any way what do you think shall i just ignore the problem and use the programs i have got at the moment.

yeah i know that but the only reason i am running antivir guard is because of my nortan anti virus program f****** up. do you think i should get rid of norton and just stick with my other programs that i have downloaded.
