Hi
Am running windows XP (SP2)
Have been having a few problems over the last week.

Last week Spybot S&D picked up
-win32.agent.pz
-win32.banker.xe
-win32.ZBot

Summary showed more than one file infected for win32.agent. I ran fix problems and it seem to fix all but one of the win32.agent infected files. I ran S&D again and this time it seemed to remove all infections.
Spybot scans now seems to report no immediate threats found but I do get boxes coming up during the S&D scan which I click “OK” to and these say
“there were problems in the include file c\Program Files\Spybot-Search_Destroy\includes\trojansC.sbi. See include errors log for details”

On (most) reboots now I get a Windows Send Error Report/Don’t Send box saying that file “QTplugin.exe has encountered problems”. I had a look on the internet and QTplugin seems to be related to the win32agent infection?

Although Spybot doesn’t seem to detect it, if I run AVG it shows that there is also an infection called vundo.je but AVG doesn’t seem to fix this itself.

I am also getting redirections/pop ups whilst using internet.

Not sure if they are related (apologies if they’re not but I’m adding them for completeness) but the following are a couple of the odd things that have been happening over the last week.
- system time/date appeared to change itself last week and I was directed into BIOS(?) to reset it
- the lad runs an IPOD from this PC (worked fine for months) which stopped working last week (as did my MP3) I got both working but then his IPOD stopped again. Using the Apple troubleshooting guide it said that the IPOD needed SP3 but my system now shows it’s running SP2 ????. I tunes (and related files/programs are currently uninstalled
- windows updates seem to have stopped installing and everytime I go online I am told that there are two updates ready to install but these never seem to install.
- System has MS Office Basic 2003 but excel wont load/open any spreadsheets. Each time I try I get an “error 25090 problem with office source engine system error 2147023836”. Again, I did a bit of checking and the Office Source Engine seems to have a connection to Automatic Windows Updates ????.

I have downloaded and run ERUNT and HJT log posted below – thanks

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10451)
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10063)

However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your computer and would like me to attempt to clean it, I will be happy to do so.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.

Hi Blade81
I will take the advice and go for a reformat and re-install of OS.
I unplugged from internet pretty much as soon as I saw the original infection and have only reconnected for as long as it took to download ERUNT & HJT. I also changed passwords etc at the same time and started to use a clean PC.

Thanks for your time.
Seasons Greetings
