Hi Tashi,
Hopefully I've finally found the proper way of doing this hijack thing.Sorry for my inability to follow instruction as this is totally intimidating to me.

I've been struggling with 3 Malware entries under Win32.Agent.pz that are said to be fixed by my Spybot program but they keep showing up the next time I scan.

I also have a Win32.zBot showing up with 5 Trojan entries and have the same problem.4 of the 5 trojans are said to be fixed but again show up when I scan. One trojan in the program directory cannot be fixed.

My problems are light so far involving a few game icons that will not open and only lead to larger problems if they are clicked on.I have had warnings from microsoft that my computer is infected with I think about 24 different items which is the count on this clipboard I am pasting on this thread.

I've just today downloaded the recent Spybot program replacing the older one and was hoping it would solve my problems the older one could not.

Thanks Again,
Andrew

Hello and :welcome: to Safer Networking

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

If you don't know or understand something please don't hesitate to ask
Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

1 - Download and Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link 1 (http://malwarebytes.gt500.org/mbam-setup.exe)
alternate download link 2 (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html)
Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Then click Finish.
MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/database/mbam-rules.exe) and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
On the Scanner tab:
Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected.
Then click on the Scan button.

If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

2 - download and run RSIT

Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here (http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe) and save it to your desktop.
Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt<- (will be maximized) and info.txt<- (will be minimized)

3 - Status Check
Please reply with

1.the logs from RSIT (log.txt ,info.txt)
2. the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Log

Thanks peku006

Hi icepack

good job :bigthumb: ... looks better

1 - Clean temp files

Please download TFC (http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/TFC.exe) to your desktop
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close all open application windows.
Double-click TFC.exe to run the program.
If prompted, click Yes to reboot.

NOTE: Save your work.TFC will automatically close any open programs, let it run uninterrupted. It shouldn't take longer take a couple of minutes, and may only take a few seconds. Only if needed will you be prompted to reboot.

2 - Eset online scannner

You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

Please go here (http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/) then click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS1.gif
Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS2.gif
When prompted allow the Add-On/Active X to install.
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is NOT checked, and the option Scan archives is checked.
Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:

Scan for potentially unwanted applications
Scan for potentially unsafe applications
Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
Now click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS3.gif
The virus signature database... will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically.
Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
When completed select Uninstall application on close if you so wish, make sure you copy the logfile first!
Now click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS4.gif
Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.

3 - Run Hijackthis
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad

4 - Status Check
Please reply with

1. the Eset online scannner report
2. a fresh HijackThis log

Thanks peku006

Hi peku006,
I've used the TFC program to clean the temp files as requested. After that I downloaded and scanned with the EST Online Scanner for over 4 hours but could not find a way of copying the Logfile.Trying to find some way of doing this copy I didn't even get a chance to finish the scan as instructed as the scan was lost in my confused search.I thought best to request information on how to do this copying before I scan again.I can tell you that there were 6 infections if I remember correctly.
Also I would need to be instructed on how to use and where to find notepad to retrieve this logfile and where to find C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
Thanks,
~icepack~

Hi peku006,
I have done another online scan and your method of putting it to notepad is not working. The reason given is "The system cannot find the path specified".I also tried to save a copy manually entering notepad directly through my programs and received a "The file name is invalid" message. My program is XP just for your information.
Thanks for your patience,
~icepack~

Hi peku006,
I copied the Eset Online Scan to clipboard and then to notepad. This is the only method I could get it there with my limited knowledge.Hopefully this will suffice. Please let me know and thanks again for your patience.

Hi peku006,
The first folder you asked me to empty was done by search, dragging the folder onto the desktop and deleting it's entire contents. These files are still inside my recycling bin.Hopefully this is what you meant by emptying the folder.Should I delete the folders from the recycling bin?
Thanks,
~icepack~

Hi icepack

good job :bigthumb:

empty your Recycle Bin

it seems that you have Eusing Free Registry Cleaner Installed, otherwise all the good looks

please read this Registry Cleaners, not recommended (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=30113)

Update Java Runtime

You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 17.

Go to Java Site (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp)
Click to Download Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 17
In Platform box choose Windows.
Check the box to Accept License Agreement and click Continue.
Click on Windows Offline Installation, click on the link under it which says "jre-6u17-windows-i586-p.exe" and save the downloaded file to your desktop.
Go to Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs
Uninstall all old versions of Java (Java 3 Runtime Environment, JRE or JSE)
Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file with the java icon which will be at your desktop, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Reboot your computer

How's the computer running now? Any problems?

Thanks peku006

Hi peku006,
When I click on either of my Blasterball icons to open these games they refuse to open.As I mentioned in earlier posts this was what I noticed first about my computer malfunctioning. These games refuse to open and more importantly I cannot go on Internet Explorer, check my mail, and basically my computer behaves erratically. The folder you asked me to empty contained many Wildtanget files which is the company name for these games.I was going to uninstall these games. As long as I stay away from these game icons my computer seems to run properly although I do have some problem using the Help option on Spybot as it will give me the Not Responding message and I have to leave the program and go in again. It may take several attemps before I can get into the forums.
I will uninstall the registry program you mention as it was installed by a computer technician and I don't think I've ever used it anyway.
Thanks for all your time and help with this,
~icepack~

Hi icepack

I do have some problem using the Help option on Spybot as it will give me the Not Responding message and I have to leave the program and go in again. It may take several attemps before I can get into the forums.
How to Use Spybot. (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/tutorial/index.html)

Wildtanget files

Spybot picks up Wildtangent as spyware, please read this (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=2313)

Wild Tangent. It is not malware, but is sometimes thought to bring malware along. Wild Tangent is a video game software company specializing in online games. It has even made a partnership with AOL to include itself as part of the AOL Instant Messenger for their AIM games section. The WildTangent Web Driver is their technology that allows you to play 3D games over the Internet. Although it’s not technically considered spyware, it does have built in components to update itself and gather information about the computer system including Operating System Version
CPU Type and Speed Memory Amount
Video Card type and Driver Version
Sound Card type and Driver Version
DirectX Version
Location that the Web Driver was installed from
It is also a MAJOR resource hog.
For more information, see WildTangent Removal Instructions and Help (http://www.pchell.com./support/wildtangent.shtml) and Inside Wild Tangent-Delivering High-End 3-D Content To A Web Site Near You (http://www.computerpoweruser.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles/archive/c0101/47c01/47c01.asp&guid=).
Unless you are an extremely avid games player, I recommend you uninstall Wild Tangent: To uninstall Wild Tangent:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
In Add or Remove Programs, highlight Wild Tangent, click Remove.
Close the Add or Remove Programs and the Control Panel windows.

Thanks peku006

Hi icepack

good to hear that your computer is working well

Your log now appears to be clean. Congratulations! :yahoo:

To remove all of the tools we used and the files and folders they created do the following:

Delete SecurityCheck from your desktop.

MBAM can be uninstalled via control panel add/remove but it may be a useful tool to keep ......Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Scanning Guide (http://www.lognrock.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6913).

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Disable and Enable System Restore-WINDOWS XP
This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

Turn off System Restore
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Reboot.
Turn ON System Restore
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.
Secunia Software Inspector (http://secunia.com/software_inspector/)
F-secure Health Check (http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00001356.html)

Visit Microsoft often to get the latest updates for your computer.
http://www.update.microsoft.com

Here are some things that I think are worth having a look at if you don't already know a bout them:.

Spybot Search and Destroy
Download it from here (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html). Just choose a mirror and off you go.
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spybot properly here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial43.html)

SpyWare Blaster
Download it from here (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spyware Blaster here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial49.html)

WinPatrol
Download it from here (http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html)
Here you can find information about how WinPatrol works here (http://www.winpatrol.com/features.html)

FireTrust SiteHound
You can find information and download it from here (http://www.firetrust.com/en/products/sitehound)

MVPS Hosts File from here (http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm)
The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
Find Tutorial here : http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Please check out Tony Klein's article "How did I get infected in the first place?" (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=279)

Read some information here (http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/prevention.html) how to prevent Malware.

Hi peku066,
After using the Secunia Scan to look for updates and downloading several of those updates I ran into problems with further infection attemps. While downloading the Adobe 9.2 program I was repeatedly attacked by the Trojan Horse Injector.GR.As quickly as I could send two of these Trojans to the AVG virus vault two more would appear, and then two more and so on until I turned off my internet feed. These Trojans would go to my temporary files in i Tunes_1.exe and msn.exe.
Unable to continue on the internet I was forced to go to a local technician who had to wipe out my hard drive. He was unable to find any information on the internet that would help us deal with this virus and it's endless loop of attacks. The technician figured I had an open port in my computer where they were entering continually.I think information found on the internet referred to these Trojans by the name Sandbox if I'm not mistaken.
I just got my computer back today and just thought I'd let you know about this turn of events for your further references. Thanks again for all your time and patience.
