I had the Command Service malware for a while. It seems to be gone now, but I'm still getting problems. It currently takes about 20 minutes for my computer to boot up -- reboots make me nuts! Please help.

I had command service malware for a long time detected by Spybot, but not removeable. It slowed computer down tremendously. It looks like it's gone, but I am still painfully slow and have browser hijacks. Here is HJT:

I tried blacklist. It showed no problems when a scan was done. The computer has been extremely slow, especially at bootup since it had a Command Service infection (Spybot now shows that there is nothing). Currently, about 20-25 minutes at first boot and 15-20 minutes at reboot. The problems all started when Command Service showed up and it is gone, but problems are not.

Good blacklite found nothing

Start Hijackthis and place a check next to these items If there.
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{C99A2550-27A3-4A69-92D1-926BA3C2BB58}: NameServer = 85.255.115.85,85.255.112.236
====================================
Hit fix checked and close Hijackthis.

Restart your PC into safe mode and get a startup list made with Hijackthis.

once in safe mode Start Hijackthis click config misc tools >
plcase a check in [X] list also minor sections
and [X] list empty sections, then click gernerate startuplist log.
restart back to a normal windows session and post that log.

I did the first hijack this...I did have that item and checked to remove. When I rebooted into safe mode my computer wouldn't let me sign into Windows 2000. It didn't accept my password, even though it accepts it every day when I boot normally. I rebooted normally and it took my password fine. Also, the boot time is now almost back to normal -- still a little bit slow. Is there a different password for safe mode boot compared to normal? It was the same user name.

Thanks

I not seeing any malware
"Also, the boot time is now almost back to normal"

Good, If the problem returns consider uninstalling and cleaning up after norton, then it can be installed again, I would rather suggest an alternative such as either AVG, avast or antivir, which are free programs.

Disconnect from the internet when uninstalling your av program.

Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month
